@mindbullet: I dont think I would say CS4 is worse, but i also thought CS3 was better than both CS1 and 2. It does buckle a bit under the size of the world theyre trying to construct, but its still ambitious in a way that most JRPGs just arent.

Ryan's frank deconstruction of Avatar the movie is something I think about a lot, both because its hilarious and because it made me think a lot about the stuff I watch/play in a different light. I regularly think of "We had a whole lot of money and we used it" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_xcX3pYaXY

@snaketelegraph: Rean is a teacher in CS3, so the new school isn't about getting him more potential harem partners. They honestly dropped most of the harem elements after CS1 (Its around in CS2 but much more diminished), and in 3 the "romance" options are I believe limited to the old Class 7 and are not prevalent in most of the game (There is a student who does the ol anime hot for teacher thing, but Rean never engages in it seriously). I think the way CS2 ended was a bit abrupt and CS3 (like CS1) takes a while to get going, but ultimately gets to a good place narratively when it picks up where CS2 left off.

Also since you mentioned playing the other Trails games, I think I ended up in retrospect liking CS2 (and Rean) a lot more after playing the Crossbell games, as It helped me understand how he's meant to be a contrast to Lloyd from those games.

@mike: I Played Monster Hunter 4 on a regular 3ds at first, then bought a New 3DS explicitly for it. Having done over 50+ hours in both modes, I can confirm that the circle pad pro or equiv is a huge improvement for that game on the 3ds. It's a real bummer, but the D-Pad stuff is just too awkward. Some players are used to it thanks to the original PSP versions, but I could never get used to it. Google the Monster Hunter claw to see if youd be comfortable playing that way.

@sparky_buzzsaw: I had similar thoughts before playing it, but then after playing it I realized how good the UI and Controls were. The only really stickler on the controls is the circle pad pro being a huge improvement, but otherwise the way everything moves is very deliberate. It's one of those things that once you get used to it, you understand why its laid out that way. It's actually more efficient the way it is than other ways they could have done it. Similarly with the UI. It generally tells you all you need to know about whats going on it a fight, and when it doesn't thats usually on purpose to get you to learn how to judge things.
