I totally agree with the OP...
I've finished Modern Warfare 1 & 2 and now this weekend also Black Ops on veteran. I almost burned down my apartment in the frustration of trying to stand on the back of trucks, blazing away with no cover, and getting shot up no matter what i did... But, you keep progressing, only every level takes 5-10 times as long as it should just because of shitty checkpoints and poor level-design. In MW 1 & 2, on veteran, if you die you realise that you've fucked up: "Ah, I took off too early"..."Oh, that cover is compromised by XYZ"... But Black Ops punishes you for playing the game. All the on-rails examples speak volumes about this, but also things like on Cuba, when you have to go through a doorway to progress the story and you die no matter what you do: you dive off to the right- you die. You try to pick off enemies- they respawn, you die.... Same thing in quite a few levels... Another shitty example is Kowloon when after you fall down the scaffolding, you can't move, only use the pistol. Your survival is to 100% determined by chance. I tried everything from just straight blasting at everything, to trying to not bring attention to myself by not shooting, to double-tapping people carefully.. In the end (as in ALL of these cases where the game does not want you to progress) you simply have to keep grinding till you luck-out...

And hey!  A side-note: who else is annoyed at Khe Sanh, and there being no instruction to actually run up to the barrels to progress the script?!? Game-breaking.
Too many flaws with this game. Red-dot sights that were invented in the seventies (INVENTED) are free to use for NVA, and russians in 1968? Steyr's and FAMAS "prototypes"? Embarrassing!

Phew... All vented out...

@Gunharp:  I'm with you.

I feel that the game is being critiqued for trying to mimic other games in the same genre, whilst also receiving negative remarks for not doing things which are done in games in this genre. I think the game is good, it's not mind-blowing- but I enjoy the realistic scenario and the overall story of the single-player as well as some parts of the multiplayer. I think anyone who has even a passing interest in present-day first person shooters should check the game out!

Oh yes!
I thought I was the only one. I tried to play through AC6, but I had to puncture my own eardrums with a pencil after the third, or so, "go dance with the angels" exclamation. And that made the game rather unplayable... I also couldn't go swimming for a few months... :(

Hmm... I predict that the next generation of gaming consoles will be using little solid-state like drives to store games physically... Alot of advances in that field these days y'know!

I would like to have been able to answer both D and E, but I ended up choosing D because I eliminate all game trading enterprises all together by NEVER buying used games... I can't believe it's accepted by us, the consumer, that companies are able to do huge mark-ups on games they purchase for virtually nothing- with little or no guarantees for the consumer. I think we end up loosing in the end, as this in all likelihood keeps the prices on older games higher for longer, as the used games form a new bracket below the "classic" bracket- making "platinum" type games more expensive in comparison. I also have a conspiracy theory that the used game market jacks up the prices for original retail games, as developers want a piece of the action by charging more from the start, thinking that people will be willing to pay more- since they sometimes expect to trade it in to get cash back.
Sorry, I'm just bitter, I just had my second RROD in a year, and I am a lil bit miffed...

I think it's a great game for anyone who enjoys realistic fighting games, but if you're like me and you're in to fighting (I box and have trained JJ in the past) it has plenty of depth to keep you interested... My friends, who are not fighters, enjoy the game because of its fast paced- yet realistic action (tekken-button-mashers need not bother), and I think that the game might make you more interested in the fight game (pardon the pun) outside of video-games...

Me (as BJ Penn) knocked out my buddy (using Sean "roid-rage" Sherk) in as long as it takes to sprint across the ring... It was funny as we just got into an exebition match so I could show-case the game for him... He was dumbfounded and I celebrated by trying to act all coy about it...
