2 days huh, only 2 days was the excuse last week and we got a full week now and sales are down! so whats the excuse now

Sales are down in JAPAN because Monster Hunter is on 3DS and PSP but not Vita. The American equivalent is Call of Duty. If the Vita comes out with a good Call of Duty game, it would sell gangbusters in the states. The fact that Sony can actually compete with the big boy on his turf is more amazing then the difference in sales numbers.

I will never understand people that actually care about how much a system sells and whatnot, what does it matter?

Sales affect whether or not more people will buy it, how heavily it is promoted in a store and whether or not a developer will put out more games for it. You don't set up a gas station if nobody in town has a car.

No one in the states wants to play CoD on a freaking handheld.

@DarthOrange what difference would a mh title make if the developer dont see the sales it wants to see there is less chance of any title being developed for it

vita needs its own set of games ive said this before sure throwing in a few good ips that sell -(like mariokart super mario bros but) sony threw in uncharted golf and wipeout along with aload of new ips

so i dont think the problem lies within monster hunter being 3ds exclusive vita launched with 20 games many new ips and still did not sell as well as its competitor or its prodecessor before it heck it even failed against a wii which had only 4 nintendo made ips during this year-wii motion plus kirby and zelda hmm what was the 4th oh ya xenoblade

so if vita did not outsell competition with the so called better then 3ds line up it has - then there is somthing wrong

and ill point out 3 main faults or pointers that sony should have learned from

1-waiting on the competitor to make its move --it may have worked for nintendo against microsoft who had little experience in the home console market but on the handheld side of things --everyone who tried to best nintendo by coming out with a more powerful handheld did not out sell nintendos so called infeiror handheld so why wait

lets be honest the vita launch price is even worst then the psp because at 250 both psp and 3ds came with a memory card to start you off vita even goes as far to make it manditory for one of its strong launch titles that you buy one of these for 20 bucks ---putting the price 100 dollars more exactly then a 3ds right now which sells for 170 which should come with a 2 gig memory card!

3 battery life -- lets face it 3ds gets 1 and a half hour more on a full charge at max settings but you can tweak 3ds to get 8 hours on minimum psvitas min is 5-6 hours vs 8 on 3ds

4 number 4 may not be a big issue to some but i think 3ds being backwards compatibile right out of the box makes the purchase a little more secure cause you get the back log of games plus at the time ds had a few big hitters (like kirby mass attack and pokemon black and white) so if you didnt find a 3ds game you could always pop in a good ds title that recently came out without having to switch back to the old ds

the vita will make you pay again if you do not own the downloads already and most of us own the umd version sucks for us right it sure does so vita dont even have this advantage further more isnt it odd sony was able to release a psp go with 16 gigs plus a memory card slot !

and they decided not to include it in a vita ? i think this was one of the more hurtful moves sony had made because they couldnt do somthing better then they did before

Nobody likes to be told the thing they just bought sucks, whether it be directly or indirectly. While not the primary reason why sales statistics are worthwhile (I would put the fact that developers don't give a damn if there isn't enough people in the market ahead) it's still a decent reason.

The Vita looks like a cool piece of tech, but I'm still on the fence about it. Sony didn't show me that a "console experience" on a handheld was something I wanted. And the games for the DS just suited me better. Now with 2 analogue sticks though--that could be interesting. I'm curious when Nintendo will release the redesigned 3DS with 2 sticks-might jump on board then.

Eh, I'm excited for it for games like Gravity Rush. Stuff that, sure could be made on PS3, but takes advantage of the features the Vita has to offer. The edge the Vita has over the PS3 is the various ways you can control a game, I think it could really show potential if devs experiment with it. And the battery life is comparable to a PSP, so I'm content with that.

Fair enough but there's still the problem of me sitting on my couch hunching over a hand held versus playing a game on the big screen. Regardless of the control advantages, that's not a big enough incentive for me to choose the Vita version of a game versus the console version. Maybe if I traveled more and had chunks of free time to kill while travelling, the Vita would make more sense.

It seems to me the problem is you just simply aren't a big handheld person, and I totally get that. I'm out and about a lot more, so I'm totally cool with playing stuff of PS3/Vita quality on the go, lol. I wish sony would release A/V cables for the Vita for when I am at home though, it's pretty much the only way I played Corpse Party on my PSP.

Oh and yeah, I wouldn't be choosing the Vita version of a game over the PS3 version, that's crazy talk. But I will glady shell out cash for a great Vita game. Also, it looks like some Vita/PS3 games will be bundled together, which seems like an awesome idea.

Handheld games have always been dumbed down console games, atleast it has since the Gamboy era, they were just usually a gen behind. Tell me of a 3DS game that wouldnt work fine on a console... Mario Kart? Super Mario 3D Land? Pokemon? All the N64 remakes? They world all play just the same on a console.

Just goes to show it doesn't matter how much launch games you have. The Vita was expansive and people buying it probably will only get one launch game because the price.
