I don't care if you smoke weed, but if you feel the need to tell everyone online that you do by your name, go for it. Be warned though, people may judge you in the way you don't want them to. Chances are I won't play with "KuSHpLAYA420" ever again... enjoy eating the butt-end of my rifle, nub. hahaha :)

In the original Halo I played as Lord_O_Peep, but the Stats screen wouldn't fit all the letters so I always showed up as 'Lord_O_Pee'... Thanks Bungie. 
 
Also, one reason I loved 1vs100 so much was playing the game where you use only a person's Gamertag to find out if you'd allow them on your Utopia island. Ah.... good times.

I make all my screen names extremely stupid. If somebody doesn't like me because of my gamer tag, I really don't want to be friends with that person anyway.

I hate people with those type of tags. However what I hate more is people who write like 500 word bio about how gangster they are. 
 
Also sometimes i feel weird about saying my gamertag Hockeymask27 out loud. So I can imagine how sikweed feels.

Every time I see a gamertag that has a reference of weed I think of the bombcast where jeff does that funny voice that stereotypical smokers. But yeah it is kind of ridiculous, I find the gamertags with the Xx junk on them.

Dammit, I thought the title was serious! Anyway, I agree with you there. I also find it juvenile and stupid when someone picks a name with 666 in it (Sorry, members of the community with such a name!), but it seems like they're trying to act edgy or cool or something, although they usually SUCK at games (Once again, not talking about you, members of the site (Even though you shouldn't have picked that fucking retarded idea!!!)). See what I mean?

What bothers me about gamertags with weed references is the "me, too" nature of it all. I have no issue with weed itself; I've been known to take a toke or two when the opportunity presents itself. Neither do I have an issue with identifying oneself with something that one really enjoys. Love mac'n'cheese? Go ahead and do you. Be mac'n'cheesefan346 or whatever. I don't feel that this is the case with the majority of weed-related gamertags, though. (Keep in mind, I haven't taken a survey on this...)  It seems that more often weed is used as a symbol of outlaw status, to identify oneself as a member of a proud minority that flaunts the law by consuming an illicit substance. They're not among the "sheeple" that believe that weed is even as harmful as alcohol, for instance, and they want EVERYBODY to know it. It just becomes one of those clubs with which a ton of kids looking for personal identity want to identify themselves, and that gets annoying. I get it, you're a rebel. No need to remind me of that every time I see your tag.

I sort of agree about stupid names with piles of X's, but you aren't in any position to criticize Halo Man 445 when your name is MGS guy. :P

I dont look down on people who have weed or anything like that in their names unless its offensive, its the way people spell it that looks stupid to me, like people who dont capitalize the first letter of their names, put stupid leet speak or pointless symbols between words. 

I haven't been online in a while.  Do people still use "Sephiroth" as much as they used to?  I know I see all variations of "Master Chief" still, although it's nowhere near as bad as it once was.   
 
I think one of the things a good gamer tag needs is to be clear and legible when floating over your characters head.   I need a cypher machine to read some of the names I've seen and that's no help when you are trying to single out a fellow player.  "XxG4rBa63M4nxX" takes too much time to figure out in the heat of an online encounter. 

I usually use Choi or Catatonic/Catatonia for RPG, MMO character names. Of course, it was all taken on xbox live, but it offered me DoomedCatatonic, and I went with that. =) 
 And yes, I hate gamertags, screen names, nick names and the likes, that look like a bunch of random letters thrown together till you concentrate and decipher it in 15 seconds. 
And the main thing is, I can't remember those names if my life depended on it, and I think that's the main thing.

If you play MW2 for as long as 5mins you'll come across varients of such great gamertags like - xxXiTzLeGiTzQwiKSc0pEXxx and X 3LITE GAM3R.

The only reason they have such stupid names like that is because they know that no one from xbox live will meet them in real life. I'm not saying that as an insult or anything. I'm just saying that when they were coming up with their name they thought it would be cool and funny to them to put something stupid like that because they knew that anyone that sees their gamertag online wouldn't really give him any repercussions or even really put in any effort to care.

I have the gamertag Red Plankton. The xbox live on my main account has run out and I don't plan on renewing it, maybe next time I want to I will use Red Plankton instead.

I think if it was along the lines of Joint Ops or Blunt Trauma, then I wouldn't care so much. The reason is, those names are creative. They don't immediately have to reference drugs, but we know they do. I guess in comparison, Joint Ops sounds a lot funnier than something stupid like SiK WEED.  
 
As far as gamertags go, anything referencing a game is fine. I, however, simply used my own name Mike for my GT/PSN iimMike (immike is always taken..). I feel that it takes the 'online fake persona' out of the equation and makes it easier for others to communicate with me. Also, I don't want to label myself as a particular fan of a game as another game in the franchise may come along later on, and I may feel completely different about the whole series.
