Pile of Shame.

We all have them. Games that we were so stocked to buy but ultimately never played or played too little to count as actually playing the game. They fill our cabinets, closets and now our digital library. So here's my question, what's the top five games that you have currently in your possession that you haven't played yet and what is the current location of said game? I'll start.

1. Saints Row the Third

Something weird happened when I hit post and the other games and artwork I chose are not showing. So I'll just list the rest out and tell where they are in proximity to me completing them

1. Saints Row the Third. Currently on both my PS3 and PC HDD. Have no idea why I didn't fire that game up already.

2. Limbo. Currently on both my PS3 and PC HDD. The game is short, should be beaten in one sitting from what I hear and a masterpiece.

3. Braid. Currently on my PS3 and PC HDD. Sensing a trend? It ends with this game. A friend of mine recently came over to my house and played it for a while. The game looked like a lot of fun. Not surprising considering the level of critical acclaim it got.

4. Batman AC. I loved the first game. It is one of the few games I got a Platinum trophy in. Love the combat, love the characters, love the look, love everything about the first game. Currently, the second game, which I heard was even better than the first, is sitting in my cabinet still wrapped in the cellophane wrapper.

5. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. A lot of what I said about Batman can apply to this game except for the fact that the game is currently located in the cloud waiting for me to play it. I will have to before I play AC3 right?

I tried but I couldn't bring myself to beat this game.

With all my power I tried to beat this game but couldn't. I would get lost and become oblivious to this fucking game alot. Hell on the first level I got lost in open water. The puzzles wasn't any better they were nothing but convoluted bullshit. Fucking drove me to insanity trying to figure the shit out. The combat was a cluster fuck in its own right. Fuck this game I barely had any fun with this shit.

If someone held a gun to my head, and try to force me to play this game. I'll tell them to just pull the trigger.

I keep wanted to say F' it and finish P3P (I'm two days before the game ends), but I keep working on the bonus content at the end of the game, slowly though. My goal is to finish it before P4Golden comes out in October.

I recently made up a list of 50 games that I own that I'd like to complete. SInce I started the list, I've already been able to tick off 3 games. Steady progress.

I have a word document saved to my desktop with four categories,

1. Games I am currently playing

2. Games I really want to play

3. Games I want to play if I get around to it

and 4. Really really old games I want to go back and play

This list takes up a couple pages.

The good thing about not having any money is that you go through most of the games you buy.

However, I still haven't played much of Planescape torment. It's still on my desktop looking at me. I would like to but the time investment and the annoyance of playing old games. Learning the controls and mechanics of an old game always annoys me.

Oh...and Vampire: the masquerade - blood lines. I want to but...yeah.

My punishment in the afterlife will be to have my list of unplayed or unbeaten but purchased games read out to me for the rest of time, Scanner Darkly style.

Here.

And I find that forcing myself to play a game really burns me out on games in general so I try not to do that much anymore. For instance, Red Dead Redemption has about ten minutes of fun for every thirty minutes of galloping across the impressive but boring landscape, so I don't really play that much at all. Just Cause 2, however...

Anyway, several of those games are pretty fun, they just fell by the wayside for reasons I'm not really sure of.

Well there are non that I haven't started, the shame comes from not completing them:

  1. Final Fantasy XIII (so close to the end but always pushing it for later)
  2. Deus Ex Human Revolution (waiting for my new computer build)
  3. Rage (waiting for new PC)
  4. The Stalker games (PC excuse)
  5. Metro 2033 (PC excuse)
  6. Witcher series (PC excuse)

The only game that I really regret Buying and not playing is Beyond Good and Evil HD. Not my fault though, I want to, but in an act I think can only be constituted as an act of trolling, the game doesn't invert the Y-axis, but the X AND Y axis. The only reason for this I can think of is nobody on their development team played a dual analogue console game before Halo, (because before that everything was inverted by default, that's how I got conditioned).

Oh boy a ton, I'm going to take out most of my Steam games because I'll probably never get to them.

  1. Persona 4 (Watched The ER, Played Persona 3 a total of three times, and I own a copy. Issue is that it's up with the rest of my PS2 games.)
  2. Tales of Vesepria (I have been playing this game on and off for the last two years, I mean, I'll reach the ending right?)
  3. GTA 4 (Only got halfway through it)
  4. Both STALKER games I own
  5. RE 4
  6. Dues Ex (I reached the last hub are but stopped playing due to PC issues.)
  7. O.G. Darksiders
  8. Company Of Heroes (The burnout I have from Warhammer applies to company of heroes apparently.)
  9. Titan Quest (So many times do I almost get out of greece, then I remove the game to clear up hardrive space while forgetting to get my save game. Damn it cloud saves have ruined my life.)
  10. Total War Shogun 2
  11. Space, Pirates, and Zombies or Space Pirates and Zombies.
  12. Rainbow Moon (I really like it but not a priority for finishing right now)
  13. Killzone 3
  14. Insert steam sale stuff here.

Rainbow Six 3, Penumbra Collection, Superbrothers (I just didn't get it),

Stalker and Stalker: Call of Pripyat: I really tried. I tried playing them without dying horribly and actually getting somewhere. I could make no significant progress and eventually gave up. Every so often I try again just to remind myself why I don't play this game.

Journey. My PS3 broke shortly after I bought it so I never got to play it. I have a new one now but I've just never gotten back around to Journey.

Darksiders 2. Been playing Persona 4 Arena and old Silent Hill games instead.

And Spider Solitaire. There was a time when I could do Spider with 4 suits and not break a sweat.

I'm not sure if maybe you didn't hit the Post button a little fast, but I like the general principle and I feel like bullshittin', so why not? Right now the top five on my Pile of Shame are:

Mass Effect 3 (bought on a deep discount in a going-out-of-business-sale for the 360, and it's been sitting on my desk ever since)

Dead Space (I've owned it for two years and haven't cracked it open due mostly to the fact that I don't do well with horror games)

Company of Heroes (I've owned this for years on Steam, and just haven't gotten around to it yet)

Total War franchise (up to a certain point - same as above, I purchased them at a Steam sale and haven't gotten around to 'em yet)

Xenoblade Saga (I bought a copy when it came out, and it's still in its shrink wrapper. I'm debating whether or not to even break it open, as I'm willing to bet it might be worth something someday).
