@gundogan: If you get a custom card, which you really should with the 980 Ti as the coolers are way better, come with zero RPM idles, and run faster for very little price increase, you'll probably see 520W for two of them. Could you get away with a 750W PSU? Probably. Would I? For those dollars, I'd spend a bit more, grab an 850W, and not worry about overlclocking headroom.

@imort: @mirado: They arent more efficient becouse they are bigger. A 650W will outperform a 1200W at 500W load unless you double or even tripple the money.

Didn't say they were. If he's talking about getting two 980 Tis, money isn't a concern, so there's no reason to skimp on the most important part in a system. A 80 PLUS Gold or better PSU will run very cool and efficiently at half load. Don't know why you mentioned 1200W though, as I didn't see anyone in this thread list anything over 900W, which kinda douses your argument.

@redroach: By the time he formed MSF in Peace Walker, he had already left The Patriots. The Les Enfants Terribles project happened about a year after he joined, which was shortly after Portable Ops, and once Big Boss found out about that, he left.

The downside with having a overspecced PSU is many.

  • its a lot of money down the drain
  • It will be loud
  • It will be hot
  • You will get a large powerbill becouse its large and probably not very efficient if you only draw half power from it.

None of those are necessarily true. A good quality PSU can run nearly as efficient at low power as it does at maximum power draw, and often times 50% load is the most efficient. Good quality PSUs are also not hot or loud at any load.

I made a timeline of all major events prior to The Phantom Pain.

As for "was he a good guy," that's a bit simplistic for Metal Gear; there's a lot of people doing their own things, and sometimes they come into conflict. Even The Patriots could be considered good guys, depending on your tolerance for authoritarian-style governments.

FOX vs XOF: we don't really know much about XOF yet, except that (GZ spoilers) they are led by Skull Face, who plans on killing Zero and also were responsible for the destruction of Mother Base, MSF, and injuring Big Boss and Kaz.

My timeline should help answer some of your questions.

The only time I figured I would spend money on a mousepad led me to buy a Steelseries SX. That was probably seven years ago, and I still use it.

Since they don't sell that anymore, I'll just say aluminum >>> any other pad. If it gets grimy, I just wash it with some dish soap and it's like new. Try making a normal mouse pad last anywhere near that long. Expensive mats are a waste; either go the $2 route or pony up for something that'll never go bad.

Hell, find a place that can fiber polish some aluminum and you'll have a product that's as smooth as teflon and will last practically forever.

900 Watts should do it. You don't need to worry about a PSU being too powerful; as long as the unit is high quality, and rated 80 PLUS (anything silver or better is a good mark of quality), you'll be perfectly fine running that kind of setup.

I have the same CPU/GPU setup and I run a 850W 80 PLUS Gold Corsair unit, but I have no intention on going SLI.

I never play these kind of games (Walking Dead, Tales From The Borderlands, Life is Strange, etc), but I played this one and enjoyed it. I had the whole season at once (like you will); it really helped keep things engaging and from getting too confusing.

Give it a shot.

@devil240z: I assume your PSN name is the same as your GB username, correct? I put you in the table but since you didn't specify, let me know if I need to change it.

@Mike: See what I mean? You guys and gals are always on the ball. Maybe I can actually stay on GB before the release! :D

Thanks for the devotion; the mod team is one of the reasons why GB is such a good thing to be a part of.

@csl316: I believe it will still hold up for most people even if they are spoiled. The spoilers are so completely insane that I question whether they are even real at all, but this is Metal Gear after all.

I definitely don't encourage people to look them up unless they don't mind spoilers.

This makes me so happy and so afraid.
