Semper Fidelis: Becoming a Marine- Update!

Sorry to anyone who had been following my series of blogs. I fell off the wagon, got distracted with other stuff (namely looking for a job to pay for all of the stuff I need to take care of before basic). I'm going to try and do the Basic Training "walk-through" blog in the next week sometime, and I have a few actually on topic game related blog ideas floating around I might do soon too. If I decide to do those however I will do the Basic training piece first. Partially because I feel terrible for being absent for so long and partially because I expect it'll be fairly long (it's not easy explaining an experience that lasts months and which will keep you constantly active one way or another).

Found a little gem of information recently however that might drastically speed up the process of me going to basic. According to about.com which has been fairly reliable as far as information on the Military has been, if you have 15 college credits you can be placed in the same enlistment pool as a diploma holder. The thing about enlisting is you generally need a diploma and the military can only bring so many drop outs into recruit training each year. However, with a few college credits under your belt, you count as having a high school diploma. I am going to talk to a recruiter in my new area of residence hopefully in the next week about this to find out exactly what this might mean for me. In the mean time I'm going to continue assuming I still need to work towards somehow getting my diploma however. Until I confirm that this might at least make things go a little faster I'll just assume it'll be a while yet till I go through the hatch at MCRD San Diego.

Again, apologies for failing to keep up with my updates! It's been a bit crazy and frustrating trying to find a job, and Skyrim decided to come along and swallow the rest of my time like some sort of time monster.
