Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... Just does not sit well with me. I was gonna be a nice boy, and subscribe, and get my T-shirt. But that ONE thing, just is filling my stomach with acid. here are my hair-brained ideas that I am shitting out with about 90 seconds worth of thought, that make a fuck-ton more sense to me than the Splitcast.

• Merch store. It is fucking do-able, even if they have had problems in the past. Hoodies; T-shirts (which they fucking have now anyway!!!!!); plushie bombs, luchadeers, whiskey bottles; stickers; patches; mugs, steins, shotglasses, cocktailshakers; keychains. All doable.
• Fire Kessler
• more ads
• sponsored Bobcasts, like many, many podcasts I listen to already do. I'm sure NOS energy would buy airtime, or something. I would much rather listen to a 10 second "brought to you by" than wait a goddamned week. Or even an NPR style- "Users like XYZ and QRS", where you just hit the Paypal button, and for $10, get your name read by Ryan. None of that messes with the integrety of the podcast.
  
• Donation button. I would have donated to y'all years ago.
  
• have a shorter bombcast. Stop doing the Wiiware and DSIware time wasters.
  
• use lower bitrates, offer DL links offsite, or some such to cut down on bandwidth issues.
• Subscribers get a video podcast, and scrubs get the old, regular format one.

A stupid as splitting the bombcast is this is stupider. No offsite file host is going to be cool with Whisky Media abusing their services and lowering the quality is just plain stupid. No one is going to sponsor the bombcast due to language and lack of viewcount traceability either so that's out.
As for Merch: That'd require Whisky media to pay for people to make that shit which would be pretty fucking high and to ship it out all over the world. They could use some cafepress crap but no one wants to buy that bullshit.
A video for paid subs? Who the fuck wants to watch Ryan, Jeff, Vinny and Brad sit at a table and talk into mics? That would just add to the bandwidth cost of Whiskey media with no benefit to the subscriber.
 The only half decent idea is the donation button but you can't run a multi-site business on that. Very few people will donate without some kind of incentive.

Thread should be retitled: "Hey Whiskey Media!  I'll never pay a sub for your website, so do these things to make the free access perfect for me."

subscription should be a last resort.  I like some of the ideas in the OP though.

Some sweet-ass ideas in here. I would love a video pod-cast.

I'd rather be punched in the face every single day than have a split bombcast.

Maybe I'm just overreacting and getting caught up in the frenzy of all this, but, though the 5000 subs thing gives me hope that there will be no splitcast, it almost seems like a sort of threat to the community to sign up. I planned on subscribing ASAP, but I sure as hell don't have the money right this second. I think this the start of something horrible.

I still plan on getting a year's subscription, care less about the features, it's just my way of sayin "thanks" and i too am not feeling the split Bombcast...doesn't seem right to me.
i like the idea of the live Bombcast though...then, members could get it a day earlier ( naturally, because they record on Monday) and no change for non members.

Why is there still Kessler hate even when he's been gone for a while? The guy was a cool brodude. 
Also if you don't have $5, beat up some kids, steal their lunch money, give it to your mommy, and then use her credit card.

It makes no fucking sense how people are like "well I was going to pay but then I found out that the bombcast is going to be split for non-paying members".

• Merch: they've said many times in the past that the shirts they've done were not really to make that much coin, because not a lot came of it. It was more for fun than anything.
• In-podcast advertising: they addressed the shortcomings of this in the podcast about the changes.
• Donation button: what's stopping you from "donating" your $50 now instead?
  
• Shorter Bombcast: wish granted.
• Video Bombcast: this has been talked about in many other threads in the forums. If you think that the Bombcast costs a lot of time, resources and money (which is what's causing the subscription shift) then a video Bombcast is going to require exponentially more. You'd eventually have to fork out more in your subscription just to keep that content afloat.

Video podcast I'd be down for, but I'll probably still get a yearly membership. It's $50 a year, which is $10 cheaper than Xbox Live now, and I will use every feature it offers. I'm excited about downloading videos in HD for me to watch later rather than stream.
