People may be offended by Lucky, but I am offfended that GB thinks that the Lucky debacle was a worse event for the industry than No Man's Sky.

@brnk: I've seen the arguments for and against spoilers. It is simply a personal thing IMO. Some people could care less and actually enjoy a story more when they know what is coming. That is fine, but everyone is different.

I would rather play the game not knowing about the still from Ep 4. My immediate thought when seeing the image on the home page was that big boss was captured by skullface. The still was of a cutscene so while playing mission 6 ("Guest starring Skullface") all I could think about was when that event out of my control would happen and trigger the cutscene from the ep 4 still. I'm glad that I am past that mission now and at this point I know nothing beyond that.

Other things I could care less if I am spoiled. It depends on what I am watching or playing. With MGSV shit gets so crazy in the story that even a small spoiler can end up leading down a slippery slope of overthinking everything. i.e. "When is skullface gonna capture me...now? Maybe if I go into this area that cutscene will start. No, hmm, maybe if I go in this building." That isn't how I want to play mgsv, but it is purely a personal preference. Some games like Fez I just lost interest in playing once I found out about certain events in the game. I've also enjoyed and finished many other games that I had spoiled like Brothers. At this point I just avoid spoilers since I know from past experience that it does hinder my enjoyment of whatever it is I am interested in playing, watching, etc. This is purely a personal preference though and I know others are just the opposite.

For instance the image for this video gives away quite a bit.

Does it really though? I just can't see any way it gives anything away other than "there's a cutscene featuring images of Skull Face and Big Boss somewhere". You can't even infer whether they are physically in the same place or if it's an hallucination/composite image, where that place even might be, what they are doing, why Big Boss is upside down etc etc

The fact that you are going as deep as you are is basically validating my stance. If you have avoided the trailers (as many fans have) you would't even know skullface and big boss meet. Add in upside down big boss, lone ranger mask, etc and you end up with one image leading to a lot of speculation for someone who hasn't gotten to that part of the story. Going forward I can easily see one of these stills spoiling something that I did not have to have spoiled. It's easily avoidable with a few copy paste lines in adblock. Now I don't have to worry about visiting the site.

It gives away that they meet I'll give you that but that's not a major spoiler.

Whatever you speculate is of your own doing and not the responsibility of the site or the still. Again, besides the fact that they meet nothing is given away.

I never said it's the responsibility of the site. I never even said that the still for ep 4 was technically a spoiler. I said that in the future I could easily see one of the stills being a spoiler. The still for ep 4 gives away information, I see it as being quite a bit, others may not think so. Most spoilers are opinions and can vary from one person to the next.

Lets say for example someone dies in ep 5, then I get past that point in the story. Then the still for ep 15 shows that character alive. That is the sort of thing I'd want to avoid and I found an easy way to avoid that. I'm expecting a lot of these videos to go up in the next few weeks and now don't have to worry about going to the home page.

Curious if anyone knows of a way to block seeing the image stills for videos in the site. I'm currently starting TPP and I'm starting to think I'll get further spoiled if I keep seeing them. Hard to avoid them when visiting the site. For instance the image for this video gives away quite a bit. I tried adding where the images come from to an adblock extension in chrome, but didn't work.

edit: Got it to work finally. For some reason I had to restart chrome. Probably a small amount of people, but if you want to remove the images from the home page you have to block http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/screen_small, /screen_medium, /screen_large, /screen_kubrick. That removed all the images from the front page.
