They made some of the worst controllers on the original Xbox. I never bothered to get one of their controllers on the 360. They would break so easily and the sticks would peel off.
Okay, now I'm a little further into the game...I just got done with the main story mission in that blizzard planet where you find out a bit more about the Kett. I now encountered some of the bad writing many people complained about. What just happened in that mission was predictable and just stupid.
I don't know if it's just me but I can't change guns in mp mode. It's supposed to be the back button that brings up the weapon wheel but it just brings up everyone's stats instead. It does exactly what the start button does.
I'm playing it on the Xbox One and the framerate is pretty bad. The worst part though is the horrible input lag. I was playing it on hard mode but I kept getting my ass kicked because it's so hard to aim. I don't know why I didn't just get it on PC.
I remember when ME2 came out, everyone on the internet complained about how much the writing in it was dumbed down compared to the original. People were mad about how you only had 2-4 dialogue choices in each conversation while the first game had 6. Today, for some reason, ME2 is everyone's favorite and I haven't changed my opinion all that much about the game. It easily had the best characters, and I remember only 1 of them was poorly written...but it was the weakest at telling the main story. It took way too much of a side step from the main plot and before I realize it, I was finished with the game. I haven't finished Andromeda yet, but so far I consider ME2 to have the weakest story. Not sure why everyone thinks it's so great. ME3's main story was much stronger but it gets overshadowed/downlplayed because of the ending.
My other issue is that this is supposed to be a whole new galaxy filled with mystery and unknown secrets and yet it feels way too much like the original trilogy. If they didn't tell me I'm in a new galaxy, I wouldn't even notice. It's disappointing that there are already established colonies and races from the milky way long before my character arrived. Hell they even got a citadel.
It's about what I expect and get out of a Mass Effect game intro. Although it may be not, maybe I just expected so much worse based on the reviews and so I'm a bit lenient. Obviously too early to tell but my only complaint is that some of the voice acting is god awful. Like that Salarian you meet in the Nexus...gah.
Well I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was check for the reviews. I was shocked at the ratings. I mean, based on early impressions of the game, I didn't expect another masterpiece but I was willing to accept that the game was an 8/10 or even a 7/10 but a lot of the reviews are below even more low expectation. So I accepted that this was not the game I've been waiting for for 5 years and quickly went to Amazon to cancel my preorder. Unfortunately it was too late so it's still on the way tomorrow. I wanted to cancel it and wait until it went on sale for $20.
