Toe Jam and Earl 2 is the best Toe Jam and Earl. Screw you all.

This one seems fine, but I'm not into the look of it... or how mushy it is when you move, honestly. I don't hate it, though.

I love Vinny. I do. But his fascination with going over every single option on every single menu on every single game he QLs drives me absolutely insane.

I promise it's good to just play the game for a bit. We'll pick the rest up.

Anyway, game looks cool, always down for watching the guys fumble around helplessly with a tactics game.

@boiter: There's also a bunch of cheaper third party controllers that work just fine and a couple of adapters that let you plug PS4/PC controllers and mostly work fine. The Switch is really not picky about taking peripherals at all.

For what it's worth, newer JoyCons haven't given me any trouble, so I think they figured it out.

Also, I got this thing and unless I'm missing something it doesn't include full roms of the games it riffs on, just 3D models of the cabinets. That's a bit cheeky and people should be warned.

I thought a fan sent those crates until they explained the desk, my mind was reeling with awful possibilities. (a giant Dan statue, two giant but slightly smaller Dan statues, three even smaller but still giant Dan statues, a single copy of Sneak King, etc.)

There's no 'like' feature in GB forums, but I still want you to know that I see you there.

Guys, Mai Shiranui pulls her endless supply of fans from her cleavage.

How had I not noticed this for over 25 years? I'm not even sure if that makes her a lot better or a lot worse.

I made an exception to my not watching gameplay on this show and sticking to the mission reports (it was too infuriating) due to the finale and the change of format and this was pretty fun, minus the paralysis halfway through.

They... still suck at this game, though. It's kinda impressive, honestly, with how long they've spent with it and Vinny having done multiple playthroughs. I mean, by the end of Persona they knew to, you know, cast Bufu.

I guess from that perspective the end of this makes perfect sense, huh?

For what it's worth, the last encounter makes a lot of sense because you're supposed to be banged up back there and it's a very long mission, so you could be basically two hours into this thing and find that last room to be unsurvivable. Making it a puzzle instead of the same tactical skill check as the rest of the spaceship is the right call. And depending on loadout and how many people die along the way it can be a lot less trivial than that.

Super actually kinda sucks. The arcs are all good ideas but the writing is generally awful and the characters read like fanfiction. The new character designs are all pretty good though. Beerus and Whis are awesome.

I agree 100% about the first half of it, the back half is actually really watchable. Sure, there is a bit of the fanfic factor there, but only as much as in any other show that keeps changing hands over three decades, and once they break free from remaking the plot from two mediocre movies it just keeps getting good until it ends on a high note. I thought it was unwatchable early on, now I'd take it over the Buu arcs any day.

@noelveiga: not speaking down to anyone or any culture, but English very much is the default language all over the world - as in the default language everyone switches to when trying to converse with foreigners.

Yes, like that. That's the exact attitude I learned to avoid from old DBZ games that ignored the existence of English due to the show not being big in the US yet. Thanks for illustrating it.

But seriously, though, that as it may be... well, it sucks. I end up watching a lot of Japanese content in English, which isn't the best or easiest language to translate Japanese into, even among the ones I speak. But the production values that go into some of those adaptations is often disproportionate, to the point where you don't even get dubs in other languages for JRPGs at this point. The EU-exclusive releases of DBZ games are a really cool glimpse of a world where this isn't the case, which is probably never going to happen again.

And don't even get me started on what that does to privilege English-native voice actors versus voice actors elsewhere in the world, or how the Internet and the expansion of English as lingua franca has annihilated entire national industries that have instead been overtaken by their US equivalents, erasing cultural differences that newer generations don't even know about. This shit sucks so bad and is so obvious for all of us non-English native speakers that Hideo Kojima made an entire game about it (or two thirds of a game, anyway).

I see someone bringing up the Japanese version of SSJ2!

I'd also like to submit the Bruce falconer version of the end of the Cell fight. Nothing against Kai I just think the combination of music, added shots, and changed dialogue give it an edge. Super glad to hear Dan is at least getting these in bits and starts!

Loading Video...

My galaxy brain take on this is that I'm from a non-English speaking country and all English dubs are terrible compared to ours and whatever they did to the music on any of them should be legislated against with severe jail time attached.

I grew up with the Latin American dub and I agree wholeheartedly. At this point the influence of the nostalgia factor from some of the American audience's takes on the show is clear and makes them super grating.

Which is fine, of course, I just think it's funny how different their perception of the show is from literally anywhere else where they left most of the show pretty much untouched.

I want to be the hipster that calls out Americans for getting to Dragon Ball way too late... but I have them to thank for a number of cool realizations. For instance, all those 8 and 16 bit games that shipped with French localization but no English in the carts. They a) revealed to teen me that videogames are made all over the world and English is not the default language for everything, and b) got me weirdly good at understanding a few French expressions versus how shitty the rest of my French is.

I am WAY into the idea that DBFZ on Switch will ship with THAT version of Butoden with no English on it, and I WILL get all hipstery about the bad US coverage that keeps calling it "obscure". That thing outsold Super Metroid and MegaMan X.
