@Hailinel: The implicit design of something has little to do with how it is actually used. I get enjoyment from running a slick ar15 in 3 gun competition the same as a porche gt3 owner gets enjoyment from taking his car out on track days. An irresponsible or unstable person could use my 3 gun rig to hurt or kill people, and irresponsible person in a porche gt3 speeding on a highway could cause an accident and hurt or kill people.

Excellent point. Everybody on the road has a driving license (hopefully), but we still have accidents and drunk driving deaths all the time.

You'd have a lot more without driver's licenses.

Don't see the difference between playing it on casual or playing on normal and just shutting off the game and loading a save. Both circumvents the permadeath. Better just play it on casual and avoid having to turn off the game all the time.

There are no mid-battle game saves on permadeath.

Luckily, driver's licenses exist, eh?

Everyone plays FE like that, scoops.  You turn on permadeath so that you can make that consideration when the unit does die "do I like this unit/are they valuable enough that I should restart?". Without permadeath, the only way to lose a battle would be if all your units got wiped out. With permadeath, however, losing a unit can be a crippling blow to your playthrough that forces a restart.

Patrick, the method you've used in Fire Emblem is more widely know as "save scumming". I think you are entitled to do whatever you want in a single-player game, but sometimes embracing a game's punishment ends up being more fun :).

However, for a permadeath-based game to work, it needs to give you a chance to recover. I have no idea if Fire Emblem does this.

It does, in that Fire Emblem games continually present the player with new units, sometimes up to the very last chapter. The trade-off comes in the fact that units that join later aren't necessarily going to be as strong as units you've been nurturing from the early stages, and they'll have less time to develop.

Except often times the number of healers or mages Fire Emblem has given you is rather small so losing them can often just strand you at some point.

Also, you might just not like the replacements.

Do you think the inevitable VLR sequel should ditch the current framework these games have? Another game with 9 characters forced to play a nonary game seems like it would get stale.

So, they pretty much took my two favorite RPG series and made a cross-over? I'm okay with that.

on a scale from 1-10 I'm about 5, sometimes (very rarely) I reach a 7, and usually I'm between 5 and 3. Now the thing that for the life of me I cannot achieve even when I reach a blaring 9 (extremely rarely)

You're very odd.

Yup.

Woooo for Atlus being greedy! Who would've thought?

EDIT: But yeah, as other people have said in here: I don't care about this game anymore and they as hell aren't getting my money. Better luck next time, Atlus.

I'm not sure what being greedy has to do with this. Atlus doesn't have a European office. They just ended up selling the European publishing rights to a company that is absolutely terrible.

I'm quite convinced that the region locking has nothing to do with the European publishing rights. More with the fact that putting both language tracks on there would allow Japan to import that game for cheaper than actually buying it in Japan.

Therefore, region locking.

Atlus literally confirmed that was the case themselves.

Not a lot Atlus can do. They sold the euro publishing rights. Maybe they should have had a clause stipulating a time frame for release but that could have killed the deal for all we know. They were not to know - not sure anyone knows - it was going to turn in to a clusterfuck.

Like other posters have said, Atlus is the one sitting on the EU build which Zen STILL seems to be waiting on. Its totally their fault.

edit; also it's not really progress since in P2: innocent sin you can romance Jun, who is the right answer (Lisa is annoying and Maya is more of an older sister)

I'm not sure I'd call that a 'romance', since all you really get is the option for Tatsuya to tell Jun that he likes him, which basically amounts to  a contact option since the game never actually shows or tells you that they're in a relationship. Its implied.  (and lisa is the best answer, suck it!)
