So my Backlog of games...There's a lot. (First Blog)

So I have A LOT of games to go through.

Some games I bought because I was really excited for it.
Some are there because a friend recommended it to me.
Some are there because it was on a bargain price.

And some are there because....Hell, just because they are.

Now with all these games I am determined to complete them (After my exams which end on June 24th) No matter how bad or good they are. So let me firstly just show you my list......

Now are you ready? I warn you...The backlog is long.

First, the Xbox 360-

  • Dragon Age 2
  • Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
  • Halo Reach
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • Fable 3
  • Deadly Premonition
  • Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare Pack (DLC)
  • Nier
  • The Godfather II
  • Mirror's Edge
  • Metro 2033
  • Lost Odyssey
  • Ninja Gaiden II
  • The Saboteur
  • The Bourne Conspiracy
  • Brutal Legend
  • Prince of Persia (2008)

And that's JUST the list for 360. Now, your probably thinking  "Hey dude, great job for buying those games and all. But I think you're forgetting the sole reason for them....TO PLAY THEM!!"

I agree I should of just not bought them :/ I just been so busy these past years in exams with my A-Levels, that I hadn't had the time to play ALL of my games. But from June 24th I'll be having a lot more free time and hopefully make a dent in this....And that's where you guys come in.

I want you guys to vote for the game that I should complete next when the all-mighty date comes. You will be choosing the games I play. Afterwards I shall do a review on that game with my thoughts of it too. This way this will give me the motivation to finish these games and give my two cents on it.

Now I will give you the other lists as well and you can vote from them too.

PS3-

  • Yakuza 3
  • Resistance 1
  • Resistance 2
  • LittleBigPlanet 2 (Story)
  • Final Fantasy XIII
  • God Of War Collection
  • Darksiders
  • Sly 3 (I've completed the other 2 in the collection 100%)
  • Demon's Souls
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Saints Row 2

PSP-

  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
  • Final Fantasy: Crisis Core
DS-

  • The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
  • Ghost Trick
Now these are all the games I haven't completed. Vote for ANY of these either platform of which you think you'd like to think I should finish first.

Hopefully this was a decent blog for a first time and enjoyable for you all to read and as interactive as I can make it :)

While you vote, tell me if you guys have any backlogs yourselves and how you tackle through them.

Cheers for reading!

RD

Ugh I know how you feel, I have a similarly epic backlog. I put mine in giantbomb list form just so I would have any idea what I was supposed to play.

But if you're going to beat all of them, why not make it easy on yourself? You should determine how quickly you could beat each game and play them in ascending order, eg you would start with the quickest game to beat first and then by the end be playing the longest or most difficult. That way you'll have the sense of making progress from the very beginning and you'll have a really big "Out" pile.

Dude, that's some awesome backlog. I'm in the same boat with Dragon Age 2, FF , Red Dead, Bulletstorm and New Vegas with Portal and Mortal Kombat coming on loan.

I'd vote you play brotherhood first, as its a pretty enjoyable light game to ease you into things again. I just finally got round to beating it, and it's great, so yeah, Brotherhood!

@Tanikaze: I didn't know you could make lists :P I'm such a newbie. I'll make a list too but I want people to vote what I play next just because its an interactive thing to do with the Giantbomb community and It would just drive me more to finish my games :)

@The_Grindilow: Cheers bro! One vote for brotherhood it is! I have L.A noire incoming too but I doubt I'll leave it since I'm so freaking psyched to play it!

Well, good luck playing through all those. If I were you though, I wouldn't try to rush my way through games, as that is a very good way to stop enjoying them. Deadly Premonition has taken me 2 months so far and I'm still not done with it.

That's a pretty decent back-log. I dare not even look at what stuff I've picked up then not started.

@supermike6: really considering picking that game up. Watched through both ER's but it just seems like something that needs to be witnessed first hand. I still crippple with laughter every time 'GET IT OFF!' comes up.

Any game that is voted, I will take my absolute time to play, I don't want to rush as I agree with you, the experience will be ruined. I do not expect to finish it all, just to make a dent in it.

Consider yourself lucky: I have a bigger backlog of games on my Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360.

T_T

I'd say start finishing the games where they'll be sequels coming.

Throw out Dragon Age 2 and save yourself the pain of that game. I would start in on one of the long RPG's, and keep stuff like Heavenly Sword, that's only a few hours of mindless action, as pallet clensers in between the long games.

Being a student has meant a big backlog of games I haven't had the time to enjoy so I definitely have a big list too. One of my top priorities is to play Mass Effect 1 and 2.

I bought it for the same reason, and have absolutely fallen in love with it. If you go into that game with an open mind and a willingness to just kind of go along with it, I think you will have a great time. I've played 36 hours so far and I'm still not done.

@RedDragon123: Backloggery is your friend, and it's got a feature called Fortune Cookie. It randomizes your games, and you can filter it by games you haven't beaten, games you have beaten, and games you have 100% completed. Unfortunately, registration is still closed.

I also have a huge backloggery (thanks, Steam), and I feel your pain. However, you should totally play Darksiders. That game is the darker version of Zelda people have been clamoring for. If you don't like Zelda, then I can only speak about Halo: Reach and Mirror's Edge. In that case, Halo: Reach is the game you should play next.

P.S. If you're already on backloggery then could you friend me? We'll play Darksiders together!

My Backlog:
-I need to install a bunch of graphics mods and a fast travel mod and actually play through Morrowind all the way. -Dragon Age Origins
-Halo Reach
-Spiderman Web of Shadows
-Neverwinter Nights
-STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl
-Medieval II Total War
-Chrono Trigger DS
-Ghost Trick
-Kingdom Hearts Days something or  other

In terms of your stuff, I would recommend finishing up Undead Nightmare. It's pretty fast and the ending is amazing.

I thought my pile of about 5 games was bad, that just borders on ridiculous. PUT THE MONEY AWAY!

...Also I reached that decision when I saw the first list, not realizing that was just for the one console.

So I'm going to vote with games that one should play because they offer/ed something new and innovative that is influencing other development.  Plus, they're great:

1) Heavenly Sword - Quick, entertaining, underrated.  Worth the playthrough.
2) Mirror's Edge - Completely unique.  Also not incredibly long.
3) Metro 2033 - Great atmosphere.  A bit frustrating, and you might not want to finish it.  But it's worth firing up and checking out.

AC:B, Halo, DA2, etc etc are all good in their own ways but c'mon, you've played a lot of similar games before.  The three above bring something new and different to the table.  Enjoy!

 I vote for these two:

Prince of Persia (2008)
Saints Row 2

I remember picking them up cheap (maybe rented them) at  the same time and had good fun early last year.  I started with PoP which isnt all too long than dove into Saints Row 2 without having played the first one and had a great time with both games.

You call that a backlog? Mine easily trumps that. My backlog is probably in the hundreds if we go back to last gen.

Anyways, play Mirror's Edge first. It's super short, and it will be nice to eliminate something off the list quickly so it feels like you're making progress.

Darksiders-1
Undead Nightmare-1
Mirror's Edge-2
Metro 2033-1
Bourne Conspiracy-1

Start with the ones that have sequels coming 'soon'.

Resistance 1
Resistance 2
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Try beating all the short games first, don't start with  Lost Odyssey or FF XIII because you will end up only beating one game(if you manage to invest 50+ hours). I only start JRPGS or 30+ hour games when I have a LOT of spare time, it's better to enjoy an average quality 10-15 hour game that beginning a long game you will never finish.
