I just want to say how happy I am to see pictures of Ultima Online posted on a video game website in 2013. Such an awesome game that will never exist again.

+1 to that, Sire!

Between Walking Dead winning at the VGA's and Journey getting GOTY at IGN, this has been a great year for story focused games. Not that's I'd like to see them come at the expense of gameplay driven experiences, but I've always been a story guy. Nice to see that people are making the games that I like.

Absolutely ,

Were also seeing the fact that games journalists, who write, like writing and story unsurprisingly and have been very pleased with more story games.

While I understand notdavids opinion , and completely appreciate he enjoys story in games I am the exact opposite. I am bored to tears with narratives and stories in games. Listening to Jeff Green (from 1up/ea/gfw/cgw etc) speak about how he couldn't care less about story on the tested marathon this year was so refreshing. I really wish GB had more Dave sometimes on game segments and podcast as he seems to be the sole person on the show who isn't so story focused.

Giantbomb is the first site I visit each day, and I very happily pay my premium membership each year.

I have no problem with these articles on Giantbomb as they in no way diminish the content I enjoy, but equally I do not value them. There is an element within games journalism that seems desperate to have some sort of 'acceptance' by writing about 'big issues'.

Jeff says 'Games reviews are intended as purchasing advice for the average reader...how I felt about something ultimately does not really matter' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgI_GRcd7bc)

And that applies for me in relation to Giantbomb, I want simply Game reviews and game related information to help me enjoy my gaming and make purchasing decisions

I cant believe Nba Jam is finally out. I have to say I have been waiting for this release for what feels like forever.
I have been playing arcade basketball games for years. From the original nba jam, run and gun 1(and 2) by konami, nba hangtime, nba street (1,2,3 lets not mention the horrific homecourt....) it has been a long time since we have had a new arcade basketball game. The one thing that truely matters however is how they handle.
(The following refers to using classic controls)
Nba Jam for the Wii feels like Nba Jam. The weight of the characters, the speed of the game, all feel right. In fact what a relief to have a game where the clock is actually right. So many times I can remember with frustration how many games dont have a clock that actually runs at the correct speed (*cough n64 hangtime cough*).
However what is so dissapointing is they have actually taken a step back from Nba Hangtime, the last true nba jam game.
Whats missing ? ;
- 1. The ability to force a layup - This addition in nba hangtime allowed you to force a layup instead of a dunk , often this meant that you wouldnt get pushed over until after the ball had left your hand, very useful
- 2. The spin move from nba hangtime has been changed into the crossover drible - This feature is different to nba hangtime. Most significantly its slower than the original.
- 3. When on fire the three pointer is not guaranteed in the same way it was in hangtime. This means quick comebacks are not as possible as before making the game slightly less arcadey.

What do other people think? How do you think it feels compared with games of old?
I think this is the best looking best sounding nba jam game ever. But actually, and a little dissapointingly, its not the best playing...
Slightly dissapointing.
