My top 10 games of 2013.

I played video games this year, these are my 10 favorite ones.

List items

  • I'm a little ashamed for doubting this game when it was announced, but that just made it so much sweeter when it BLEW MY MIND when it was released! Not just one of the best Zelda games in recent years, but one of the best in the series. If this a stepping stone for what Nintendo want to do with the series in future I couldn't be more onboard.

  • A fantastic story, an amazing world, events I still think about and some of the best characters I've ever seen. So. damn. good.

  • A really, really good 3D Mario game. Do I need to say anything else?

  • I played this game everyday from release until it lost its grip on me a few days into december. A fresh new entry in this colorful franchise gave me 140+ hours of pure happiness. Maybe I'll return to Oakville one day.

  • Yeah yeah, I know this was released in 2012, but not in Europe! All I wanted when I finished P4G last year was to stay in Inaba, and this game let me do just that. Combine that with a well written funny story, beautiful visuals and tight controls and you have one of the best fighting games I've ever played.

  • After AC III I felt like I was done with the series (I know I was not alone in this) but then Ubisoft said "Hell no!" and released one of the strongest entries in the series. Who could've guessed that? The sailing and pirate parts are great, it looks fantastic at places, but the best thing about it is the characters. There is one scene at the very end that made me realize how much I've started to care about the characters. Good job Ubi, good job.

  • Finally a Naughty Dog game I liked! The opening and ending of the game is probably enough to get this game on the list, but combine that with fantastic characters and amazing visuals and you have really good game. I just wish I didn't know anything about the game when I first played it and those first 15 minutes would have been even better.

  • I'm so happy this series is back! New art style looks great without losing the feel of the original games, the characters are still funny and the writing is great. I've almost played through it (due to my problem of buying new games before I'm done with the one I'm currently playing) but I can't see any way the ending will make me lose my love for this game.

  • Good, pure fun. I can't think of another way to describe this game. Great gameplay and beautiful graphics has made this one of my favorite games on the Vita.

  • A sweet and funny story, a nice presentation, a fun little card game and japanese monsters, all tied together in a nice little package. This should be played by anyone with a 3DS.
