Yah, though by no means specialized in this area, as an archaeologist, I too am interested in how the developers may have gone about developing the linguistic (and sociocultural) aspects of this game. I would hope that a little more care was put into this than the more commonly held belief that early humans were simply "cavemen" who frequently said Ug and smashed rocks together.
Our understanding of this time period in the Americas is constantly changing. The development of social complexity (which is not unrelated to the development of language) within the archaeological record has begun to paint a vastly more interesting picture of human life circa 12,000 BP.
I have yet to play the game either, but the academic in me is curious about the details. The gamer in me wants to ride a sweet mammoth and chuck sweet spears at other extinct species looking to eat me.
@raven10: That is so true. With the broader growth of gaming communities, by means of the internet, it also nice to see many early designers being recognized for their contributions at a level that was not possible for most 20+ years ago.
