Absolutely not. 1. Everyone I know and love and care about is here. I don't want to leave every human currently alive behind just to satisfy some morbid curiosity. 2. All the current languages will be completely alien by then. Beowulf was written 1000 years ago, but if you read it in the original Old English then you will see that everything's changed SO MUCH. Plus, I'd wager that languages are evolving faster now because we're creating new things and new actions that need names, and we're also connected to the rest of the world by the internet and phone and TV, so loaning words is trivial. If Chinese keeps its writing system, I'd be able to use that a little, but beyond that I'd be screwed. 3. I'm a CS major, going into med school. CS and medicine will have become entirely different by then, and I'd have to start schooling entirely from scratch. All my marketable skills will have been completely obsoleted and I will have no idea how the technology then works.
He should invest his money and watch it grow rather than frittering it away on gadgets. If he can live on 80% of his income, then in about 20 years the interest will be more than his salary and he could retire really young.
