Best of 2012 - So far

So this year, I'm back in action and working at EA Digital Illusions CE. Which means I have a lot more possibilities to purchase games.

Same procedure as last year. I'll arrange all of the games I've bought 2012 and then that will be the Top 10 by the end of the year.

List items

  • Oh the last episode. I was in tears. Not man-tears, real tears.

  • Wow... just wow.. €12 for a two hour game can seem steep but damn... I'll just leave this here: “Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.” -Greg Anderson

  • Very engaging. Fascinating stories from the battlefield.

  • While the last hour of the story was a bit of a drag, it's overall a solid package and definitely my surprise love for this year. Came out of nowhere and blew me away.

  • Damn this game was a weird trip down insanity. Glad to see a game where the rules of engagement are thrown out the door and treated accordingly.

  • This game tied everything together so nicely, which makes it the strongest game in the series for me. I'm just so torn up with the ending. ME3 made me cry at points, but the ending made me cry of the wrong reason.. of feeling empty and wondering what the point is.

  • Came in the second to last day of the year, but it would be unfair not to push it in there. Really solid mechanics and a competent plot.

  • This was a pleasant surprise. While it had it's problems, they were quite minor compared to an exceptional flow in combat, movement and driving. Plus the undercover cop story is certainly the best one in a video game that I have ever seen. Well done.

  • The soundtrack alone is a reason to adore this game. Not to mention the rage it produces in you. Though this rage is good. You rage and you want to go again.

  • Fun and engaging.

  • SP campaign was a pleasant surprise.

  • While I very much enjoyed the Leon'esque story with Veronica as the new killing breed, I did not have as fun as I could have due to the disguise mechanic. That is my one real gripe with the game, though when it's an integral part it naturally suffers from it. It's quite a shame.

  • While a lot better, just more of the same.

  • Sure it's more WoW, but I was surprised with the level of quality. Certainly enjoying the Monk class.

  • While having several improvements, it's not anywhere near the thrills in my top 5 list.

  • It's no Max Payne 1 or 2, but it was a decent ride regardless. Rockstar did ok.

  • A game that really could have been named something else and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. The co-op is great, sure, but aside from that it's nothing more than a competent shooter with some creative gameplay mechanics.

  • Another tower defense game. There are worse ones out there and I quite like the theme.

  • Need to play some more before passing judgement, but I don't hate it.

  • Haven't finished it, just can't find the interest to. We'll see if I actually do it at some point but I won't hold my breath.
