What are your pc specs(psu, cpu, ram, etc)? Make sure you have the latest nvidia drivers (not the ones installed by Windows), and if this is your first build make sure everything is connected and fitted correctly and your power supply has enough juice for that card.

PSU: EVGA 750watt
CPU: Intel i5-6600k LGA1151
RAM: 16GB (Two 8GB DDR4 sticks)
Motherboard: ASUS Z170-A
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
HD: Seagate 2TB

As far as I can tell, everything is connected properly and has power.

Okay, having removed the video card, the motherboard outputs work, but I don't know how to adjust anything in the BIOS... There's a million settings I can change, but none seem to control what the standard output is. I did reset it to optimized defaults, but since I hadn't changed anything in my BIOS, this didn't change anything. Also, once I put the card back in, it's back to being the only HDMI out that works at all.

@franstone: :(

I don't think the motherboard is outputting video at all... I've tried connecting its HDMI port and its VGA port to my monitor, but neither one makes anything show up on screen. They only time I see anything is when the HDMI is connected to the 980.

Did it ever work right, or has it been like that since the first boot?

If this technet article doesn't sort it out I'd double check all the cables are seated well on the card, if it's still a problem, RMA the card.

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725873(v=ws.10).aspx

Might be worth booting into safe mode (settings->update and security->recovery, click "Restart Now" under Advanced Startup and select safe mode) and running Display Driver Uninstaller as well.

Oh, and maybe check the UEFI settings and see if turning off the onboard Intel gpu helps?

It has worked correctly twice, both for about ten minutes before crashing back to code 43, no idea why. I'll read the article and get back to you. I had no idea how to do a safe mode boot, thank you for the pathway. What are UEFI settings? (just an FYI, this is my first PC build, so go slow with me, but I very much appreciate everything in the post)

Flashing a bios shouldn't be a big deal. If you're worried about doing it, you might have a computer friend who'll do it for you. Nowadays, as long as you grab the right file, the only thing you need to worry about is the power suddenly dropping as your BIOS is being rewritten.

Does your motherboard have a VGA port and your CPU have Intel graphics? Did you disable it?

Unplug the computer. Turn off the power supply switch. Then, hold the power button down for a second or two. The fans should spin up for a second. Reseat the GPU. Then, turn the PSU on and plug it back in.

Did you try the 980ti in another computer?

Okay, I've just read that it's something that would make my computer worthless if it happens (doom and gloom posts are fun), but if it's a rarity, I'll give it a go. I know the CPU is an Intel chip, I'll check to see if it has a VGA port on the motherboard. I'll give the unplug reset a go too. No, I don't have another PC in the house to try it on. It did function properly a couple of times for a few minutes, so I don't think the card is faulty. This seems to be a pretty common issue from the amount of forum posts it turns up.

So I finally built a gaming PC, decided to go balls out on it after my tax return was better than expected. Decided to splurge and got an Nvidia GTX 980ti graphics card. The only problem is that it doesn't seem to want to... work. Every time I start up the tower, the resolution is crappy or has red dots everywhere and the graphics card has a note that says it has detected a problem and stopped working, code 43. After a solid week of Google searches, all I can find is that this was a known issue about 6 months ago when Windows 10 launched, but there seems to be no definitive solutions. There are suggestions to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them (something I've tried a bunch), trying a clean install of windows (which doesn't help), and flashing a new BIOS to my motherboard (something I don't understand how to do and am scared to do because I've read it can completely brick the system).

This has been a very frustrating week considering my elation the previous week of having assembled the thing properly in the first place. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it? Please help...

Penn is someone I listen to weekly on his podcast, someone who's show I've seen, and someone I've met in person and had conversations with. He's an amazing person who's very vocal about what he believes and is definitely on our side about games and gaming. This video pretty clearly shows that. What do you duders think of it?

EDIT: It has been pointed out that I just kind of threw this info out there without providing my own perspective on it. I'm pretty much in agreement with Mr. Jillette on this and with his defense of art in general. I also love him quoting Teller's "art is anything you do after the chores are done" definition. The fact that he gets behind it so vigorously is uncommon in a public figure, especially since most stories about video games (outside of enthusiast sites like this one) are about how they are destroying the youth of the nation. Just something to cheer for and I hope he continues to side with game makers and gamers in general.

For the sake of satisfying my curiosity, I checked all the main line (or canon) Mario Party titles on Metacritic. Yes, I know, fucking Metacritic, but it's a good way to collect a bunch of reviews together. Here are the scores, both critical and user generated.

Game TitleCritics' ScoreUsers' Score
Mario Party797.9
Mario Party 276 (based on 2 reviews8.4
Mario Party 3748.1
Mario Party 4707.3
Mario Party 5698.0
Mario Party 6717.7
Mario Party 7647.7
Mario Party 8626.3
Mario Party 9736.8
Mario Party 10666.5

So, depending on which crowd you think is more correct, the series either peaked at the beginning and has gotten almost steadily worse until a spike at 9, or peaked at 5 and has only gone down hill since then. Either way, I really hope they make Mario Party party 6 soon. I never played any of them after 3 and want to see the trainwreck that Dan has steered them into.

@teddie: Hadn't noticed that... though Mr. Klepek was reporting that over 19,000 people had signed said petition at the time of writing, so perhaps he just added fuel to this by reporting it. It seems to have gotten up to steam prior to his article.

The boys of the Beastcast have apparently said something that the internet is taking seriously. Is this a first? They talked about the trailer for Great Detective Pikachu and their collective desire to have a gruff voiced Danny DeVito play the role in the American translated version.

Here's the Nerdist article about it.

Granted, we all know how well online petitions work, but perhaps Nintendo will see just how many of them want this to be a thing and look into it. Probably not, but we can dream. We can dream...

"HEY! DeVitto! What are you doin'?"
-Bill Joel, "Say Goodbye to Hollywood"

(Yes, I know he was referring to a band member and not the actor, I know, don't tell me)
