I already knew how to play tabs when I tried Rocksmith and the pace at which it tries to teach you was just not for me. I find it easier to just break things down slowly and work up to the proper speed rather than having the game expect you to play at full speed and constantly shift difficulty on the song as you're playing. That having been said, the fact that it works at all is kind of amazing and there are certainly things to pick up from it, it just did not click with me personally. If you can grab it for cheap, might be worth trying.

I'm a big fan of the MCU generally. It has it's highs and lows as anything does, but I think the general quality of it is pretty good. As someone who doesn't binge shows much and kind of longs for a routine to share with the wider community generally, I love the slow rollout. It vaguely reminds me of the theorycrafting that went on around Lost, speculating week to week about what in the hell was going on... though with WandaVision, we're liable to actually GET some answers rather than muddle through JJ Abrams' eternal puzzle box (Yes, I know he didn't do the whole show, but his philosophy of mystery kind of influenced it throughout). It's kind of like reading a comic book, in a perfect way, in that you get an issue a week and have to wait patiently for the next bit of the story. Very much enjoying it, personally.

If/When they become more available, I will eventually get both, but probably a Series X first. I have about half the song library Alex does for Rock Band 4 (which is still sizable at 1480 songs) and would very much like the faster loading times he spoke of. However, I might wait until the first hardware revision or until the up the size of the hard drive. I think that's the limiting factor on both at the moment... aside from there being very few games I can't play somewhere else.

I want to thank Ben for his years of service here at GB. I was lucky enough to get a level on Get on My Level, though not lucky enough to have made something devious enough to win the prize. Still, it was an honor to be nominated, and I'm glad both you and Dan enjoyed my level. Thanks again for everything and I hope your future is devoid of further house fires. You'll earn that lab coat one day, junior scientist.

@meatsofevil: I’ll have to look into it, that at least gives me a starting point.

I’ve played the Harmonix rhythm games since Guitar Hero 1, got RB1 at launch and it’s been a near constant background hobby since. It’s a ton of fun. I’ve just not gotten into trying to improve my expert pro drum skills until lockdown started, to somewhat good effect. I can pretty much sight read anything three dot difficulty or lower now, four dots are rough, five dots are hard, and only a handful of devil head songs are playable. I just don’t have the speed or kick pedal capability yet.

@meatsofevil: That sounds like a headache, but glad to hear you're getting back into it! Sorry I don't have the ability to get on the PS4 and jam with ya. What do you use to stream? I did that a little before Mixer shut down, but have been thinking about getting back into it... I'll just have to get a capture card or something to hook my Xbox One up to my PC. Truly wandering in the dark on that though, but it'd be fun to figure out.

@bwo:No worries, life happens duder. I get on most Saturdays anyway, just to hit the drums for a while. Hit me up if you see me on and we can play some songs.

@johncallahan: @bwo: it’s obviously been a helluva week since I posted this, so if you guys want to skip it for now, I understand. I’m going to get on and blow off some steam by hitting the drums for a while, hit me up if you feel like it.

@johncallahan: @bwo: Dayum, and here I thought my 1478 songs were a lot... sounds good though, maybe we can work something out this weekend. I’m Phoenix654 in XBL as well, feel free to drop me a message.

Inspired by one A. Navarro, I've been playing Rock Band a lot during lockdown. Turns out, it takes a while to get good at drums, who knew? However, I recently dipped into the online features on Xbox One and it actually works pretty well. I was wondering if anyone would be up for playing some songs on Saturdays? I'm not up to Alex's standard of drumming, nor do I particularly have his taste in music (some of the stuff in his shit lists are songs I dig), but I would hazard that most people don't have a working drum kit these days.

Drop a note below if you're interested. I live in the mountain time zone in the US and would probably get on some time in the afternoon/early evening to play. Sorry to PS4 players, my music library lives on Xbox.

I started working a job more than a decade ago where I needed to fill the hours with podcasts and the Giant Bombcast certainly lived up to that, as well as being wildly entertaining. This was back in '08 or so, been a listener ever since, been a premium subscriber since it was available.
