for like a year I've been thinking resident evil 5 hell yes RE is my favorite series then I learned that you have a AI partner the whole time and thought that was really dumb.
but then I played the demo and found out it really was not that bad so I was sold on it again.
then I found the game is less then 10 hours long, the mercs mode is split screen, and the mine level where one person has to hold the light while the other shots.
all of that was convinced me to wait till I can get it at a bargain

I certainly think 10 hours is not short for a modern title. And there are a hell of a lot of games I wish were shorter.

My reaction to the demo was that I feel that the control system has slightly had its day. It felt just a little too familiar to me.

After playing the demo, I was psyched enough to want to pick it up eventually but I'm holding off on any further media and news on the game as apparently many sites and Capcom have been suprisingly spoilerific on news on the game.

the controls are rawful,  RE4 for $15 is a much better choice than RE5 for $59.99

What RE game has ever been more that 10 hours? And I heard that it is longer than RE 4.

I recall RE4 being surprisingly long. I think I clocked in over 15 hours.

RE4 and 5 suck to me

I played the demo and also got a bit dissappointed... but it's Resident Evil, which means the crazy storyline will continue - and that is enough for me to buy it.

Re4 was great but that shit came out more than 5 years ago, and even then people recognized that the controls, while a big step for the RE series, were still not up to date with what games could do.  This demo totally turned me off to this game.  I was pisses that capcome was not rolling this game out until 2009, they announced it a long time ago, and said this better be the shit if they are taking so long.  Guess what?  It is not, if I can't play and demo and leave wanting more, then what the fucks the point?
Yes, this game is short but for RE games, I expect a little more than 10 hours.  When you think about it, those ten hours are not all that meaningful.  did you play the demo, see how you just have to stand around surviving wave after wave of zombie until they rescue you?  What the hell is that about?  Thats how they make the game longer, making you shoot countless zombies until you get past a point.

I was completely pumped for this with all the trailers, and stuff, I'm a huge RE fan and I was expecting an incredibly awesome story for RE5, for my surprise, it's a huge fucking disappointment, oh, and jill....... I'll never forgive you capcom. :x

This is actually less than 10 hours? I remember RE4 being about 20 hours or more for when I played it....and someone said this game is longer. Hmmm? I still am looking forward to this game no matter what. I will have faith that the level design and pacing is akin to RE4, because that was the best part of the game for me. I can adjust to controls no problem.

yeah there was joystiq or kotaku story that said the game was like 9 hours and 45 minutes including cutscenes "

I went and found it the times are seven hours, thirty-six minutes of gameplay
and the game contains roughly 80 minutes of  worth of cut-scenes

then you take into account that there is that kinda dumb riding on the back of the truck part that's probably 20 minutes long
and that half hour of waiting to be rescued by the helicopter in the marketplace that was in the demo and  the half hour it takes to kill the chainsaw boss

:( I think you saved me $60 this month. Thank you.....but it is a "thank you" filled with hatred and sadness. Knowing me, I may still buy it anyway, but I am not happy about this game anymore.

I know this is one of those cases where people are just so pissed the game turned out this way but grateful there was a demo to show them this.  I really think this game will get bashed by lots of mags and sites because not only will non fans pass it over, but the hardcore fans will too.  This game is gonna be beaten down in the coming days.  It should be the only things that saves us at this time, just to see people tell it like it is and hope capcom can finally stop being so afraid of innovation.

Im thinking of renting instead of buying. I decided if a game dosent have a good multiplayer, its just not worth buying. I really wasnt impressed with the demo, the controls feel dated and now its looks like its short as well. Where is the replay value? Trophies or achievements? Those dont do much for me.

well yeah if you rent it you'll be able to finish it before you have to take it back that's something

XBOTs want Gears of Resident Evil Wars.. Capcom says no... but something tells me RE6 the "reboot" will be Gears of Resident Evil Wars... and every one will hate it.

Early reviews have all been really high, like 95% or better.  The control complaints are incredibly fucking dumb and are completely invalid.  However, if the game is less than 10 hours, that's a valid worry.  If it's the best 10 hours ever and it makes me play the single player many times, that's fine, but not many games can do that.

The length doesn't bother me. I beat RE:4 at least four times, not counting the Ada Wong missions and the countless hours trying to complete mercenaries mode.

As for the controls...eh, I remember back when videogames were allowed to be weird and Japanese.

the AI computer thing is a real blower for me. my friends play nothing but madden and basketball so i'm stuck with this retarded 10 hour long ashley sequence. big disappointment for me,  i'll probably still get it anyways though.
