Brad's complete lack of knowledge about TF2 conventions like spawning at the base until an Engie builds a teleporter drove me up a wall throughout the entire video. It's really sad that Overwatch is getting roped in with all these MOBA Shooters, because it's obviously going for a TF2 vibe. Which is much appreciated considering how few games have tried to replicate that, and I feel like Overwatch is going to be very successful with that crowd now that TF2 itself is being overlooked by Valve so often nowadays.
I don't blame Brad, he's never played the game really, but it was still quite annoying.
There must be a class that builds a teleporter, right? .... I mean, they stole pretty much everything else out of TF2, can't imagine they didn't steal that :)
As somebody with 500+ hours of TF2, I can say that they only stole basic objectives (which every game ever also has) and a cartoony art-style (which a lot of games have). Like, maybe the medic+heavy dynamic is present? ...but that's about it.
Tracer is a female scout, the pink haired lady is a female Heavy, the ice lady is a Pyro with a freezethrower, Junkrat is the Demoman, and the dwarf in the red armor builds Engie turrets and Symmetra's Ult builds an instant teleporter. The only class that isn't represented in this game so far is the Spy and I imagine they'll try to put something in like him at their earliest convenience.
I don't really mind any of it of course, I've played 1000 hours of TF2, so being able to jump right into this game and basically know what is going on from the jump is hugely exciting.
