@bigsocrates: No, my wife and I are going to experiment first—much to her dismay. I told her she doesn’t have to try Dan’s version.

The party is on Friday, so we’re going to do a dry run on Thursday.

@mkeskimaki: I like the egg whites idea too. It would give some foamy body, with the added bonus that it would horrify Dan.

I like the mascarpone idea. Put through a high speed blender, I bet it would come out creamy and smooth.

I feel like a coffee liqueur is also a requirement, although it doesn’t have to be kahlua. I might get a nicer liqueur like Mr Black, and then steep jalapeños in it.

I’ll update this thread with the results after the party. I’m also going to make some Dan’s Originals ©—staying as true to Dan’s livestream creation as possible. I’m sure it’s not as bad as it looks, right?

For context, Dan decided on one of the old Big Live Live shows to see what could be improved with nacho cheese, including replacing the cream in a White Russian with said cheese.

So, some friends are hosting a Big Lebowski party, and I want to bring yellow Russians. However, I don’t want to turn my friends into enemies.

How can I honor Dan’s creative intent without creating a new species of mind parasite?

I think the required characteristics of a yellow Russian are:

* Yellow

* Vodka forward

* Contains cheese

* Spicy

How can I turn this into something appetizing? I want it to be perfectly homogeneous and sweet like a White Russian, and it needs to be able to travel. I was thinking about using a little bit of Brie with sodium citrate for emulsion. Then maybe adding turmeric for color and sliced jalapeños as a garnish.

Is there any way to salvage Dan’s madness? Is it possible to make it better with nacho cheese?

Did I miss an announcement for how staff GOTY lists are being handled this year? In years past, they released all week long aside the guest lists, but so far this year I only see guests. Are they coming at the end of this week?

Origins is fantastic, or the Witcher 3 as suggested elsewhere in this thread. Alternatively, maybe just wait for Cyberpunk next week?

I've read through an embarrassing number of comments on Brad's review, with people talking to themselves about how their experience on their platform has been perfect. The opposite comments, talking of the bevvy of problems on the commenters platform, are just as plentiful. Thus, one might deduce that all the versions have about similar likelihood of turning sour at any given point. Some get lucky. Some don't.

I feel as though Brad may have been particularly unlucky--or some of those bugs may have been addressed in the week before the official release.

Where I totally agree with Brad is with respect to the story and characters. The cynic in me says that some EA exec decried that they couldn't include direct continuity with a franchise that is 10 years old, but they still had to ape the basic narrative elements of the original trilogy.

I feel like the writing staff on Andromeda understood what made the original trilogy special (e.g. there's a pretty awesome Elcor knock-knock joke told in the Nomad), but they seemed crippled by trying to start an original story-line that still evokes every element of the previous three games.

PC version also haunted. You got lucky.

That's a bummer to hear. I certainly had to quick-load a few times to fix quest script errors, but otherwise it's been relatively solid. I just wish the supporting cast was more memorable--BioWare games have historically had fantastic characters.

I'm still digging it, I think the 75 or so it has on Metacritic is fair. It's mostly just disappointing in the context of being a Mass Effect game.

@rorie: I'm still seeing de synchronized audio on my Roku 3. I'll keep an eye out for an update to the Giant Bomb app once it gets pushed through Roku's system. Thanks for the updates, Rorie!

I suppose it would be nice to have the fiber wire by default, but I find the opportunity kills to be much more compelling.

I never choke someone out when instead I can drown them in birthday cake, sensually snap their neck mid-massage, drop a chandelier on their head, drop a toilet on their head, drop a moose on their head, drop a woman on their head, or simply do some old-fashioned outsourcing and get the targets to kill each other.
