Some of my all-time favourites of the past decade (A Work in Progress)

  • Now as you may, and probably don't know.. the 200X decade (officialy declared the 'aughts') was MY decade of growing up. The new millenuim brought with it truckloads upon truckloads of amazing gaming experiences.
I feel the only decade that really competes is the 90's, just in terms of sheer innovation and getting gaming to where it is today.
However there have been some unique games unlike any we've ever played before. And those are the types of games that I love the most.

So I've decided to create a comprehensive list of all the games that I've enjoyed the most between 2000 & 2009.
Mind you, there's no way I can fit them all on here... this list is large enough.
So I am making the list stop at 95 games.
YES, that is only so I can complete the GiantBomb quest that requires 95 items on a list ;]

[ The following list is in chronologic order ^-^ ]

    - Year with most games: TBA
    - Console with most games: TBA
    - Year with least games: 2009 (five games)
    - Console with least games: GameBoy Color (one game)

List items

  • [Nintendo 64, 2000]

Possibly some of the greatest and most memorable shooter action ever.

Single-handedly secures Joanna Dark as one of gaming greatest gals.

  • [PC, 2000]

One of the most technically complex shooters of it's time.

A game that was way ahead of it's time I might add.

    Fused the FPS/RPG genres perfectly.

    Also: Cyberpunk ;]

  • [Dreamcast, 2000]

Simply put, this is my dream game.

Flash visuals, over-the-top fighting with teams of 3 unleashing relentless combos...

Not to mention 56 Marvel & Capcom characters.

    Take me.

  • [PlayStation, 2000]

One of the most celebrated RPGs ever made.

Did it live up to Chrono Trigger?

WHO CARES, this is a wonderful game in it's own right.

  • [PC, 2000]

This was honestly the BEST way to waste 200 hours of your life.

In some ways this is to me, the ultimate Role-Playing Game.

  • [GameBoy Color, 2000]

A perfect refinement of the first game.

Greater pokemon, greater graphics, greater adventures.

  • [Nintendo 64, 2000]

This game is similar, yet completely different from Ocarina in almost every way at the same time.

It's a change of direction in the Zelda series, and I cherish it for that.

  • [Dreamcast, 2000]

    A game of endless possibilies.

The sky's the limit in this miraculous RPG.

    A nostalic-favourite.

  • [PlayStation, 2000]

    Forget FF8.

This was a true Final Fantasy at heart.

I mean who can forget Vivi.

Probably the greatest FF character aside from Sephiroth.

  • [Nintendo 64, 2001]

A cute and cuddling, yet totally deep RPG to add to Mario's riches.

One of the last N64 games I ever played.

  • [Nintendo 64, 2001]

    LOL JK.

This really was the last one.

And boy did the N64 go out with a bang.

A smelly one at that :)

  • [PC, 2001]

The absolute best version of Diablo. The BattleNet system single-handedly got me into online gameplay.

NOW HURRY THE FUCK UP DIABLO III!

  • [PlayStation 2, 2001]

While not as original as the... original.

But there's no denying this absolute masterpiece the credit it deserves.

A perfect blend of atmosphere and horror.

  • [PlayStation 2, 2001]

Talk about the first game to let me freely do what I want to anyone I see.

May it be, robbing, beating, or road-killing.

    This game has me spent.

  • [Xbox, 2001]

The first game to make the lighting strike on console First-Person Shooters with excellent multiplayer, and compelling single-player.

Worthy of all praise it's gotten.

  • [PlayStation 2, 2001]

    This game is a must-play.

The biggest shock & awe in the history of videogames occurs in this game itself.

Hats off to Hideo Kojima, hats off...

  • [PlayStation 2, 2001]

There was no better way to bring Final Fantasy to the next generation.

I can't believe this game was made.

Masterful music, and a heart-wrenching plot make this one of the best Final Fantasies ever crafted.

  • [GameCube, 2001]

There's something about the perfectly balanced characters, and the outrageous stages.

Never has a game kept me coming back for so many years..

  • [PC, 2002]

I have never even touched the story in this game.

And I am in love with it.

    Now that's saying something.

  • [GameCube, 2002]

    I CANNOT believe this game.

    Literally.

It fucks with you mind in ways you didn't think were possible.

Like, tricking you into believing your memory card was wiped.

    Response: WTFFFFFFF

  • [PlayStation 2, 2002]

    Again, another dream game.

I am a sucker for animated disney pictures.. and when you roll them into a splendiferous RPG, with emotional music.. you have just won my money.

  • [PlayStation 2, 2002]

The game that introduced me to heavy metal, which is now my favourite kind of music.

Not only did it inpire me with it's 80's soundtrack, but being able to blow people's heads off in a miami shopping mall?

Gaming hardly gets better than this.

  • [GameCube, 2002]

I seriously think this is one of the greatest accomplishments in gaming.

I have never felt the sense of exploration and desolation like I felt it in Metriod Prime.

Tallon IV was a place I WANTED to venture out into, and not knowing what was in store for me, was one of the greatest feelings, that no other game will ever recapture.

  • [Xbox, 2003]

Panzer Dragoon Orta may just be the last game of it's kind.

It's on on-rail shooter, in which you play as a young girl riding on a dragon's back. What really is amazing about it is the art direction though.

    A one-of-a-kind game.

  • [GameCube, 2003]

A lot of people really do hate this game.

And I will never understand those people.

How can you NOT fall in love with this game's visuals and art design?

It had some epic boss fights and awesome dungeons that make it an unforegettable addition to the Zelda franchise

  • [Xbox, 2003]

Let me tell you, I am a giant ass Star Wars fanboy.

All the more reason to love this game, BUT.

The Revan revealing hit me harder than anything I had seen this decade.

  • [PlayStation 2, 2003]

I love strategy RPG's soo much.

And this is a shining example of why.

Anime-inspired graphics, and wacky humour make this a game for me.

  • [GameBoy Advance, 2003]

This game reminds me why I love videogames.

It's a story-focused strategy RPG that has such a rich cast of characters.

It makes me care about what's happening, and makes you question your own morals.

    I love this game dearly
