Good old innovation!

I just caught this story from Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Apparently someone has gone and added proper mouselook functionality in addition to some other existing improvements to resolution and readability for the original System Shock! I can say, quite seriously, that this still stands as my favorite game. Even in this original 1994 engine, I still play this game from time to time.  This game still holds up as a lengthy, and quality experience. I recommend trying it if you can.

@RetroIce4: The original was released in 1994, with an engine that was one of the few that was a fully 3D engine as opposed to the 2 1/2D engines like Doom. It didn't blow any doors wide off, but that game wasn't about the graphics. Neither was System Shock 2, which was also behind the curve at the time running on the modified Dark Engine. (Which I believe was based on the Quake 1 engine).

Wow. I never realized how much better the second System Shock II actually looks compared to the original.
