...which means, I need to start working towards IMOG 2010 a little more seriously than I originally was. As the move-in date has been moved up about 3 weeks, I won't be leaving my kid and his mom alone for their second weekend, and due to a location change, it won't be in a scary apartment complex! Gonna plan a training regimen.... here it goes!
Sunday : 'Splosion Man - Nothing to unwind from my personal Monday than a platformer Monday : Ikaruga - I can't think of a better way to build up to that Mid-Week aggression. Tuesday : Punch-Out!! - because the guys at work that always use the Wii won't be there!) Wednesday : Tatsunoko vs. SNK - Once I get it, I'll be able to have some people over to play... after I get the controller situation figured out. Thursday : Halo: CE - It'll be easier to get friends together to practice. Friday : Crazy Taxi - $11,000 in 3 minutes, eh, Twin Galaxies? We'll see what I can do with that. Saturday : Nothing - Hanging out with the family!
And most of all... Convincing the Gee Eff to let me go. Wish me luck!
Just got into work today after dropping my programming class; a necessary evil. This way, I'll have more time to learn on my own (it sounds dumb, but with my timetable, it just makes sense.)
Been playing Punch Out lately, and it's kind of refreshing to play a game that doesn't have achievements. It's nice to be able to play through a game for the sake of playing through a game, instead of having to elongate the ever-nagging e-peen that is the Gamerscore and Trophy System. But then the monkey on my shoulder starts acting up again...
Picked up BioShock 2 again last night... And it's really hard to say anything about it at this point. It's a fun game, and you still have choices to make. You get to "explore" underwater areas, even though there's nothing to really explore, except for a small tract of underwater land between points A and B. You get to play a Big Daddy, which is sweet, and take on Big Sisters, which I could read too far into, but I'd rather not.
As I am moving into a new apartment on June 22, I have been informed that I should not spend July 2-4 at the ScrewAttack Gaming Convention, as I've "spent enough time hanging out at cons" with my friends. The last Con that I went to was, in fact, SGC last year. Since then, I've cancelled plans to go to any convention or assembly that I've been meaning to go to. This includes, but is not limited to:
Local Conventions
QuakeCon 2009
BlizzCon 2009
E3 2010
...and I'm sure many more to come.
Only reasons I went last year were to play in the Partners (blindfolded!) Pac-Man CE Competition, Iron Man of Gaming (SGC's version of the Omegathon), to hear Nolan Bushnell's opening keynote, and to take part in a panel based on the perils and pitfalls of the Internet. Mostly, I was looking forward to the first three events; my ride left just late enough for us to miss all three of them.
Figures... I went out of my way to pick up Punch-Out just for the tournament, too. I don't even own a Wii.
I hate to admit it, but I only played Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge for the first time tonight on Live, and all I can say is that I hope that I'm not the only one who will be using some kind of tunneling software to play LAN dogfights after tonight.
Anybody else thinking about this?
Later, RHD
p.s. If you're reading this, and the servers are still up, be sure to watch your six, if you're playing with REX KING. He's not a douche or anything; He's just pretty wicked good.
EDIT - Personal CYA: It was fun playing with everyone else tonight, too!
