The thing is this...Im not arguing with you guys about the controls being good or bad. In fact I dont even own RE5. I did play about half-way through over a buddies house yesterday. The point Im making, and Im getting people worked up about it, is that information about how the game played and the controls came out long ago. Regardless of wether or not you wanted to find this information is your fault. RE5 has been compared to RE4 in almost every way. Every review on the net and in gaming magazines have said the game is "alot like RE4" That alone should give you some idea about how the game plays. Then theirs the demo that was released weeks ago. If you thought they were going to change the controls that late in the game, your badly mistaken.

Basically, we knew how old and clunky the controls were going to be. Why buy the game now if you didnt like the way it played? Thats all Im saying. Sorry for my rude language and tone.

What do you mean....
This article was written on July 16, 2008. Its a hand-on on IGN.com. This quote came straigh from that article
"What we expected to see going in was that Resident Evil 5 would play exactly like RE4 -- and that's exactly what we got"
"
Like I said, it's ambiguous as hell, and that could be referring to any number of different RE4 gameplay mechanics. You're grasping at straws.
"
Did you bother to read that article? Let me give you some help....
"What we expected to see going in was that Resident Evil 5 would play exactly like RE4 -- and that's exactly what we got. The controller configuration, character speed, firing mechanic, and camera angles are all lifted directly from the previous game with only slight alterations. "

"
Maybe you didn't bother reading my previous posts, I couldn't give two shits about impressions of Resident Evil 5. How about when you want to get an excerpt from an article, you quote what we are actually fucking talking about. What you originally quoted made no mention of the controls. Please quote the actual thing, so I don't have to bother on with this petty argument. Maybe if you took off your stupid-ass sunglasses you would have realized you forgot to add the other portion."
I gave the link to the article. YOU read it lazy ass.

"
That says nothing about the controls, only the "controller configuration", which can mean any number of things. Which (drumroll please), is ambiguous and useless as information.
"
So...again...saying the game plays "like RE4" didnt spark any sort of idea in that brain of yours on how it was going to play?

This thread was fail since before it was created. This topic has been beaten to death. Why the sudden urge to bitch about the controls NOW that the game is out? I could see if people started bitching about the controls alittle early in the dev. cycle so that Capcom might have changed it. The game is out, its to late.
"
We did bitch. But Capcom didn't give a shit, because:
1. They save a lot of development money by leaving everything as it was in RE4(you notice this not only in gameplay, but in animations as well)
2. They knew it'd sell more than enough anyway.
"
I agree with you on all points there.

We have been bitching about the controls since the demo was released, but this is just the latest topic about it. How could we be bitching about the controls earlier in the development cycle, if nobody was playing it?GOOD CALL."
What do you mean? game journalists have had their hands on it for atleast a year now. Those same journalists have been writing previews and articles on said game. Those same articles contained information about the game including things like the CONTROLS.... Your telling me you didnt know how the game played until the demo? Honestly?
"
Considering the mass aren't game journalists, I am serious. I had literally zero interest in this game before the demo, and none afterward. I didn't bother reading hands-on impressions about the game. Considering I also only played older versions of Resident Evil, I don't know what I was going into. People draw comparisons to RE4 from RE5, and I have not played RE4."
True, we all arent game journalists. THats why we have giantbomb.com and ign.com to give us insight on the games that we wanna play. Why did you pay full price for a game that you had no interest in from the word go? Actually, why did you decided to buy the game after you played the demo?

Previews and reporters were ambiguous about the controls for a very, very long time. Nothing concrete was known until much more recently, when the bitching *did* start. That said, reading about a game and playing a game are entirely different things. Your argument makes no sense.

You're jumping to conclusions. I love RE5 (in co-op, single player is horrible), I just think the controls could have been much better. I'm criticizing the controls, not the entire game.
"

I understand that. Im just saying (and I wasnt talking directly to you) that if the control suck so damn much, why'd you A. get the game and B. keep bitching about it? We all knew since as far back as I can remember how the controls were going to be. Now that the games out people are acting so surprised like Capcom shipped the game without telling us.

The bottom line is if you dont like it, dont buy it. If you do, shut the hell up and play the game...."
A. While I have played it a bit, I don't own the game(I am planning to get it in the near future though).
B. The topic in this thread is RE5's controls. I gave my opinion, and if you don't want to hear people's opinions on them, don't read the threads.
How exactly am I acting surprised? Also, what do you mean with "shut the hell up and play the game"? I thought video game forums were for discussing games...
"
Im simply saying this....we knew that the controls were going to be this way since the dawn of time. Why the sudden urge to complain about it. And yea, this is a discussion. Im stating my opinion on the situation like you are. Again, I said that I wasnt taliing directly to you when II said that your "acting surprised". Im talking about the people that create these threads. They make it seem like they had no idea that the game was going to ship with bad controls. And yea, I do wanna hear peoples opinions or I wouldnt be here...

"
I had every idea that the controls sucked, both because I've played RE games before and because I played the demo for this one. You really should learn how to read.
"
So you knew that you werent going to like the controls, why bother buying the game? Especially at full price? Its like saying you dont like the platforming in Mario but you bought Galaxy the first day... I understand the story element but why bother when you cant enjoy the game?

Uh, A. I didn't get the game because I played the demo and knew how shitty it was going to be and B. I keep bitching about it because that's what I do.
