If I May Brag For A Moment...

I have just played Team Fortress 2 for the first time since before any of the class updates.  Yes, for yesterday I got a new laptop computer. Alienware.  Free.  My new grandpa purchased one for business purposes, and quickly realized that it is not in particular the reason that computer exists.  Him being suitably high in wealth,* he bought a new one and gave the Alienware to me.

Now, I had wanted a laptop for some time, and I got a damn good one, too, so naturally, I've been going around simple 'telling' people about this great thing I just got.

Don't ever fool yourself into thinking you aren't bragging, because you are.  Not that I care so much.  I want the world to know about me and my fantastic computer that nobody cares about.  There's a good chance that if anybody reads this, they might have a computer with similar specs** themselves.

So that's where this blog comes in.  Me gushing over how awesome this computer is that I've played a single game on, and will automatically log me in simply if I stare at it.***

In conclusion, free stuff and no modesty.

* Protip: If life sucks, get a wealthy relative and be happy forever.

**That's specifications, not spectacles.  If your computer wears glasses, then that's cool, I guess.

***Whether it has facial recognition software, or I'm just that badass, it's up to you to decide.

The Achievement Whore

As I sit here on my bed, in my boxers, too lazy to clean up my room, throwing another Jolly Rancher wrapper on the ground, I take a look at how I can get more XP.

"Ooh," I exclaim, "Vanity Smurf looks easy."  Indeed it was.  Enter some profile info, find a background from one of my favourite games, grab an icon from my computer, and write a blog.  But what to write a blog about?  Well, it presented itself, really.

I am an Achievement Whore.  If you previously had no blog on here, and started one having had no previous desire, you probably are one, too.

It started off simple.  Achievements weren't anything to really strive for most of the time, just something nice to reward me for going really fast, or taking down those damn convicts.  Perhaps I'd see something interesting in the Achievements list, and go out of my way a little, because it would seem fun.  Microsoft was my first major exposure to the idea.  Then it branched out.  Everywhere I look, there's an achievements system.  Kongregate, Mega Man, the PS3, and now even this site.  Through simple exposure, my need grew.  More gamerscore.  More points. More XP.  Hours spent, trying to increase a meaningless number.

I quite frankly, am thankful for this.  I get more value out of my games, get extra challenges presented to me, and I present myself to the community, all for the sake of a score that nobody will likely care about.  Achievements often make things more fun.  Give me ten funny money, and I'll go try something I otherwise wouldn't have.

So maybe this will be my only blog post, written up for a little experience, or perhaps I'll have something else on my mind at some point, and write another.  And another.

Hey, I leveled up!
