It wouldn't surprise me if he retired. During Q&A at a convention he said want to retire soon than latter.

I would say to stay with them until you can find something better. Th one thing that bothers me about your situation is at they don't have a schedule for you. A good security company has their shit together and has a schedule mapped out for the month, not the for the week ahead. Just wait it until things change or something good comes around.
