Has anyone else ever noticed how games specifically early 3D games age worse then any other form of art? I recently have gone back to playing Final Fantasy VII and I noticed how poorly it has aged ,sure the story is still great and the music is good even though it is tinny and synthesized ,but the gameplay is very dull and moving around the world is a pain because you get stuck on every thing because it is pre rendered. So I am still enjoying the game ,but not nearly as much as my initial play through in the late 90s and early 2000s. So this got me thinking what other games don't hold up to there current day counter part because FFVII doesn't touch FFX. So I went in and test multiple games against a modern day counter part and honestly the only one that really held up was Zelda Ocarina of Time. Cruisn The USA didn't touch Burnout Paradise ,and Persona was laughable when put next to Persona 4 , Then you compare Mario Galaxy to 64 or even Sunshine and it is a world of difference.
Now are these old games bad no not by any means ,but to someone who didn't live through them or someone who doesn't under stand the limits of the time a person probably can't get into it. A good example is my little cousin ,he loves Mario on the Wii he thinks that Mario Galaxy is the greatest thing ever ,but when I show him Mario 64 and say when I was your age this was my Mario Galaxy ,he looks at me like I am crazy.
So I think that a lot of early 3D games are great ,but don't age extremely well and if you don't understand the time or why this game was so awesome then you won't like them. So my question is will I be saying the same thing about Final Fantasy X (the Best FF to me) on its 15ths anniversary or do you think we have stopped making progress to the extent that was PS1 to PS2.
Man I loved high school football junior prom king and track and theater. So to all my fellow graduating seniors who enjoyed there high school run. Also I am stoked for college.
So this summer I will be out of HS and I figure you know what this is going to be that summer I go back and Finish all these damn games that have come out that I have or want to play that I never got around to and I will list these off now.
Mass Effect 2 I like it so far ,but english has been consuming my life so I cant get invested into a RPG.
God of War Collection. I beat these games on the PS2 ,but I want the trophies and I bought it so I might as well play through it once plus there great games
Forza 3 I am sad how little I have gotten into this game normally I love racers and make great progress I platinumed burnout and almost S ranked PGR4
Bayonetta this is apparently one of the best games of the year and I typically love the GOW DMC style of gameplay
3D dot game heroes you know what I love NES games you know what I love more Atlus games this game was nearly custom tailored for me lol
Splinter Cell so I loved Double agent and cant wait to get into the new one
FF13 It was slow and time consuming plus I had Heavy Rain and god of war 3 at the time
Red Read Redemption GTA in the wild wild west Im stoked
Split second/blur love me racing games and love me the easy trophies and achieves that come with them
Dead Space yep I am dissapointed I never finished this either
Alan Wake I get a heavy rain meets RE vibe and I like it alot
Super street fighter 4 ok this isnt a beat it this is more of a buy it invite friends like me who are super nerdy over and enjoy fighting each other.
Fallout 3 I really wanted to like this game and I am willing to give it a 2nd chance
Banjo Nuts and Bolts 360 ate the disc need to get a new one ,but was having an amazing time
Ok and then games I want to platinum that I have beat are Heavy Rain , Ratchet and clank a crack in time , Infamous.
Games Im stoked for that I will beat in this time Frame Gran Turismo 5, Mario Galaxy 2, Persona 3 portable
So between prepping for college and work I am gonna be gaming alot. Ohh Also I forgot the hours and hours of singstar and rockband with friends after graduation and BBQs
So I've played both games. I almost beat Infamous in one sitting , I was so horribly addicted to it it was so good. The story ,the feeling of a living city and the crazy shooter super hero game play. Then there was prototype traversal was fun and so were some of those crazy combos and stealth parts ,but the camera was awful and the controls bothered me and the story felt like it had no point to it. Also the game just looked awful it hurt my eyes. The bad AI didn't help at all either. Also the city felt so fake and sterile. Prototype to me feels like they sucked all the charm and polish out of infamous and made your powers more awesome and said ok were done here so the question is how was this a debate? When Infamous was so good and Prototype was so average.
You know I have a passion for games there fun to collect fun to play and fun to talk and debate about with other gamers ,but recently there have been far to many to keep up with I mean I just finish God of War 3 , Heavy Rain , and Ratchet ,but here on my desk sits Mass Effect 2 a preorder for Gran Turismo 5 , and I have been playing the Reach Beta. It is kind of nice to have all these games at the early portion of the year. The bad part is I got stuff to do this portion of the year and can not keep up with all these damn games. What are your thoughts I know do to the avalanche this year I am skipping quite a few games. I may get cought up this summer unless I chose to do my 2nd run of the best game ever known as persona 4
