Games Defeated 2013

List of games I beat in 2013.

GOTY: The Last of Us

Runners up: Ni No Kuni and Dark Souls

List items

  • Great way to start 2013. Fantastic music and gameplay. Really enjoyed it.

  • Absolutely beautiful game.

  • Yeah WarioWare! Who doesn't love this?

  • Overall, pretty excellent RPG. A few annoyances here and there but pretty solid.

  • Decent puzzles, but really didn't care for the game's style/humor.

  • Really interesting concept and style. I enjoyed the peacefulness of chucking paint everywhere.

  • Refined some of the annoyances of the first game and really enjoyed it. Really enjoy this world.

  • Usually don't care for stealth games, but they really perfected it in this game. Art style is great too. Had lots of fun.

  • Easily my favorite XBox 360 game (even though I haven't played many). Had a blast making all the different vehicles and finding all of the collectibles. I have always loved the Banjo world and this didn't disappoint at all.

  • What a dumb fun game. BIG BO!!! Loved it.

  • I didn't cry... really, you can believe me. What a touching story. There is much of a "game" here but that's not what it is all about. Played it all in one sitting, just couldn't put it down.

  • One of the best open world games out there. The combat is easily better than any other open world vehicle games out there. Highly recommend playing this and especially checking out all of Vinny's hi-jinks.

  • Yeah, more gears. Not much to say. Probably my favorite of the series, though.

  • Sure, it's just a short android game... but I still defeated the hell out of it. Hoping for more chapters!

  • What a weird game, but thoroughly enjoyed it, mainly because of its art and atmosphere. Certainly nothing else like it out there.

  • Pretty alright game. Crazy, quick, high action, robots... pretty alright.

  • Very cool puzzle mechanic with some mind-hurting levels.

  • Hell yes, ChuChu Rocket. Kicked those cats' asses.

  • Quite the boring game, but had some potential.

  • Liked it even better than Fallout 3. Didn't have any bugs or anything happen to me, either!

  • Man, I love these Mario & Luigi games!

  • Had a pretty fun time with it and it's slow motion mechanic, but it is pretty unforgettable. Also, there wasn't enough need to use the bullet time... didn't make things easier and usually got myself into more trouble while using it rather than just using cover.

  • Pretty interesting game. Always liked the Rare games, but was a little disappointed. Picked it up since Brad loves it so much and thought it had some neat aspects, but just not enough to keep me wanting to play it for too long.

  • Played these old Tomb Raider games back to back to back. Combat sucks balls, so I through it on easy and really started enjoying the acrobatic puzzles and what not. Never played them before so I thought I'd check them out. They really hold up... except for the combat.

  • Great metroid-vania type of game. Really fun combat and fantastic art.

  • Burning things is pretty great. Wish coins would come out of the shit I burn in real life, though.

  • Probably beat this back in the day on my old GBA SP, but I love these games.

  • Had a pretty fun time with it, but thought it went on longer than it needed to. Certainly wouldn't have been my GOTY. I can see why others like it though.

  • You're these block dudes and you like jump around, work together and figure out puzzles and stuff. Simple, challenging and fun.

  • What a dumb game. Some funny moments.

  • The best JRPG game I have ever played. Awesome art style, characters, world, and pokemon-like combat creatures.

  • Love the souls games. I am very glad they got rid of the World Tendency aspect from Demon's Souls, I think that is the only downfall I had on Demon's Souls. They are both excellent and challenging games. I might still like Demon's Souls slightly better, but that may be because that was my first experience with the Souls.

  • As you've probably heard, this is a pretty beautiful game. The motion controls I can probably do without, but still enjoyed the mostly peaceful and serene scenery and gameplay.

  • Tomb Raider was a lot of fun. I loved the bow and don't think I used any other ranged weapon. Could have used more puzzles and less combat, but at least the combat was 1000x better in this than the old Tomb Raider games.

  • Good story and cool mind-bending aspects. Gameplay was a little wonky and was a bit annoying getting instant deaths, but that was only a few parts of the game.

  • More Borderlands. A lot like the first one. Really isn't my favorite, I could do without it.

  • Yet another stealthy game I enjoyed this year. I think developers are really getting better at making stealth more fun.

  • Have always loved Earthbound and with all of the talk this year I had to go back to play it again... it's still great! Wish they would make more games like it.

  • Overall, a pretty good platformer with a bit of a twist with being able to swap back and forth between worlds/characters (which seems to becoming popular with platformers - Guacamelee, Outland - and I'm OK with that). Some of the boss battles were pretty annoying though.

  • Never could completely get through all of the first Runner game, but for some reason this one stuck on me and was really digging the rhythm.

  • I liked this a lot more than the first 2 BioShocks. Mainly because I like the setting a heck of a lot more. Rapture was just too closed and dark, I always like the bright and colorful themes a lot more and Columbia brought exactly that. Combat seemed a little bit better refined as well.

  • This is the first Devil May Cry game I have played and holy shit I had so much fun playing it. The crazy-ass levels, monsters and even boss fights were fantastic.

  • There has already been a lot of talk about this game, so I'll just say that this was a nice change of pace (especially after DmC and BioShock) and the atmosphere and story gathering really made it stand out.

  • I'll agree with Jeff that the controls kind of suck, but overall that doesn't even matter and the pay-off towards the end is completely worth it... so I'm still siding with Brad.

  • Interesting adventure game. Will probably check out the newer one at some point.

  • Really didn't enjoy the campaign at all.

  • One of the most unique and mind-bending games I have ever played. I agree with Jeff that this was a top-10 quality game. Very cool and I recommend you check it out.

  • Don't waste your time... even the whole 15 minutes of it.

  • Great platformer with beautiful art and sound. Can't get that damn underwater fish-singing music out of my head. And screw the people who don't like the running chest levels, I loved those!

  • Interesting take on the Lara Croft series. Enjoyed the spears mechanic but could have done without so much combat. Just stick with the puzzles, please.

  • Enjoyed this much more than Bad Company 2, but it's still just your standard first-person shooter. Nothing special. Haven't tried multiplayer which I realize that is where the heart is.

  • Fantastic game! They really nailed down the open worldness in this game and even the stealth works great. I couldn't even get through the first few hours of Far Cry 2, but this game really held my attention.

  • What a great year for stealth games for me, which I normally don't care for. This one perfects it all and is my GOTY. Great story, atmosphere, graphics, acting... this game has it all.

  • Good concept but the gameplay was not fun to play at all. The platforming was awful and combat sucked. Luckily, it wasn't too long.

  • A delightful game. A perfect way to start my Vita experience. Couldn't stop smiling through the whole game. Good platforming, easy enough combat, unique style, and loved the music. Usually I don't bother platinuming games, but I really enjoyed this world and wanted to see all that I could see. I just really enjoy cheery platforming games!
