If it's for cosmetic crap that doesn't impact the game, then go nuts.

If it's for "boosts", impacting drop rates, or otherwise finagling with the core gameplay loop itself? Go eat shit.

The former never bothers me, and I don't get why people lose their minds. The latter would be a betrayal of the people who have paid you about $150 so far, to keep playing your content-thin product as you slowly turn it into something more feature-complete.

I'm a pretty staunchly liberal guy, but...

"It's worth noting that new backers can sign up and pledge without visiting either of the pages mentioned, though the "payment" page does include links to them in the sidebar."

...so what? Take some personal responsibility for reading up about what exactly you're signing up for, instead of shaking your head at the fact that Kickstarter doesn't wallpaper it across the screen in case you're an idiot. The quote above subtly hints that KS are partly responsible, for not forcing fools to read the fine print before recklessly opening their wallets.

If you find Kickstarter's terms objectionable, then don't fund Kickstarters! There's been plenty of cool looking projects come and gone over the months, that I've shied away from because the business plan (or the people involved) didn't look solid enough for me to take the leap, and because I'm well aware that KS gives you little recourse if the creator ghosts with your money. I also don't work for NASA, and I'm not an astrophysicist.

I'd love for Kickstarter to take a more active role in policing projects, except that doing that probably exposes them to a whole other level of potential liability - so why would they? Caveat emptor, people.
