@kmg90: Allegations came forward days ago, site owner ordered admins to nuke and delete any mentions of it, eventually it became overwhelming and the admins/mods needed a statement. Rumor I'm hearing is they all quit in response to whatever the owner gave them at that point, which is also why a statement still hasn't come out and the site remains down.

Yup I think that's probably a wrap for the site. I wonder what kind of alternates will pop up now, besides GB of course.

That was a disaster of a reveal. $300 with no pack in games, $70 pro controller, and Zelda is the only game at launch (which you can get on the Wii U if you wait). No one is going to buy this thing for a while except for the most die-hard of Nintendo fans.

Alright, I'm about 5 hours in and I'm done. IMO this game is terrible, I'm doing the exact same tasks over and over again with no challenge or variety and spending half my time fiddling with inventories. There's barely a hint of a story and the procedurally generated worlds might be impressive from a tech standpoint but have no artistry whatsoever. This game is the best case yet for how important hand crafted assets are. I can't think of any good reason to keep playing, it feels like the biggest time sink ever that doesn't even pretend to respect my time with quality content. It makes the doldrums of Skyrim seem thrilling by comparison.

@the_ruiner: Yep. That E3 video, good lord... the final product looks absolutely nothing like that.

Basically do not even bother playing this game without a group. Playing with pugs is a miserable, rotten experience and as Jeff described will sour you on the game in a matter of days. Not only do they not know how to play, coordinate, or communicate, but a lot of times are toxic trolls in the chat.

Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind boss fights were legit fucking amazing, some of the best boss battles in FPS history I think. And the ending was a huge cliffhanger for clear DLC or sequel plans. I'd really be happy with either I guess, as long as a full sequel doesn't take more than 2 or 3 years to make. Maybe now that they figured out how to make a new Doom game after 7 years of development hell it'll be much faster from now on.

Anyone else finding cacodemons to be abnormally threatening? They have somehow become the priority number one in any situation target in these later encounters. Most of my deaths now have revolved around not noticing one had spawned fast enough.

Yeah, especially on Nightmare they're always the first priority. They can fly anywhere and get in your face while you're trying to deal with shit on the ground, so they need to go ASAP. Summoners and Mancubus's (Mancubii?) are second and third priority, the soldiers with laser guns and stuff right behind them. Baron's and Hell Knights can usually be dodged relatively easily, same with Pinkies, and Imp fireballs are easier to juke than lasers.

Something I've gotten in the habit of doing is when a cyber mancubus shows up, the most resilient non-boss enemy in the game, I get a lot of distance and try to angle the BFG so it passes as many enemies as possible on the way to him.

@gundogan Mind blowing that someone was able to do it already. Nightmare is ridiculously tough, literally a single mistake and you're dead. I died like 4 times on the very first level, imps are a lot more aggressive about throwing fireballs and they do a ton of damage.
