"Last Time On..."

/rant

So, I started watching Dexter last week.

Now, as most of your probably know, a lot of story based shows do the "Last Time On <Insert Show Here>"

I'm all for recapping for the people who haven't been watching, but these things are useless. If I'd never have seen the show before I'd not have the slightest idea of the fuck was going. They just jump to certain things and give no backstory, thus most of it makes no sense to new viewers.

I think if there going to take 2-3 minutes to do this they should at least do it right. Since it's not done right here, it's just fucking annoying.

i kind of think that it also refreshes the audience's memory. i do agree they do it wrong for people that missed it to not know what happened. they can have a person saying something like ok i'll do it but have no idea who he/she is talking about.

If you miss an episode of a show like that, you shouldn't be watching the next one anyway.  I hated having to wait for that stuff when watching Dexter.

That show is pretty awesome, if you can't keep up rent it from your library.

The last time on segments aren't for people who haven't been watching, they're for people who have been watching and may have forgotten certain plot points that are key to understanding the events of the current episode. You know what's made for people who haven't been watching? DVD's.

Keep in mind, there's a week between episodes, and I can't be bothered to remember things. A little refresher's pretty good. The worst though is how they snowball into incomprehension as the show goes on. At first, they make sense, have clips from a few episodes, but the arc is there... as the show goes on, you'll get like 1-2 seconds from episode one, 30 second montage of the last two seasons and 30 seconds of the last episode, and none of it makes sense.

On the next Arrested Development...
I always loved those segments on Arrested Development because those "story arcs" never appear on the next episode. They're sort of like bonus scenes.

What the hell is Library?  Is that your local video store or something?  Only thing we have around here is Blockbuster, and that's dying away too.
