Hi there,
I've been seeing a problem lately with video files that I download in HD. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and what I do is download the files to a folder that is "watched" by both Windows Media Center and WMP as part of the "Videos" library. So when I go to my Xbox 360, I have two ways to watch: 1) I can go through as a 360 Windows Media Center Extender or 2) through the Dashboard 360 video player.
When I try to watch larger HD videos via the 360 WMC Extender, the sound plays fine but the video is completely black. Longer HD videos like Jeff's Jar Time vids or Greg's Skyrim run come to mind immediately as ones that suffer from this issue. Shorter HD videos play just fine. However, no matter what happens via the 360 Extender interface, I can always watch even the larger videos properly via the 360 Dashboard player.
So why not always just use the Dashboard player and shut up already? Windows doesn't auto-refresh the video library so new files that I download into that watched folder don't automatically appear. ;^) I either have to restart WMP on the PC or go through the Extender interface to refresh the list first.
If anyone else out there can replicate the problem and offer any feedback, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Skel
