Games of the Year 2013 - Incomplete

A simple list of my personal games of the year. Not a ton of thought went into this list and I didn't order them other than my Game of the Year.

List items

  • Maybe I love Bioshock Infinite more than most but I absolutely loved this game. The story and characters are easily the thing that I'll remember Bioshock Infinite for most. The ending of the game forced a google hangout with several Giantbomb users just so we could talk about it, anyone out there remember "Sex with Dogs and/or Horse?" Infinite did something very few games make me do, it made me think about it for months after completing it. And although the impact isn't the same a second time through, there's no denying that feeling of experiencing that ending the first time. I can't truly explain why I love Infinite so much, it's just a fantastic game and that's why it's my Game of the Year.

  • Very few games had as much of an impact on my life as Dota 2 has. I played the game quite a bit in 2012, but it wasn't until Brad's out of nowhere obsession did I truly get into this game. Where Dota 2 impacted me the most was the fact it's the reason I'm friends with some of my best friends today, just some Giantbomb/Twitter friends I met at PAX East this past year who all shared an interest in the game. Hell we all liked the game and each other enough to stay up 25 hours and do extra life together. Besides this personal thing, Dota 2 is just a wonderfully skillful and intelligent game. The amount of strategy and skill on display in one game of Dota 2 is just incredible.

  • I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend over 200 hours on this game, making it my second most played game of the year. Marvel Heroes is a truly underrated game, it offers a whole lot of game for no money at all. A lengthy story mode, fast paced and fun gameplay, tons of replayability and in my opinion the greatest loot lust I've ever experienced in any ARPG ever. As someone who bought into the games founders system, I will honestly say I thought this game was mediocre at best when it first launch but with constant updates and a large amount of communication between the player base and the developers, Marvel Heroes has grown into one of the best Free to Play games out right now.

  • PAX East 2013, Iron Galaxy Booth... You Dive than you kick.
