Thanks for all the info guys I think I'm going to return the game and get my money back. I'd rather return it while I can and just wait to find a better copy.

So I just bought mortal kombat trilogy on the ps1 today. When I got home I noticed a small chip on the outside of the disc on the data side. I tried playing the game and it works fine. Is there any way to tell if this chip will have any effect on the game and what parts of the game are on the outer most parts of the layer that the chip may effect?

I figured since I bought it today that I still have time to return it and get my money back which sucks, but there's other copies of MK Trilogy out there it doesn't bother me that much to try to find another copy.

I can post a picture if someone would like to see where the chip is.

@chaser324: Yea I figured Square was putting these out since sony prolly owns the rights to use the black style discs or somethin either that or the silver ones are cheaper for square to use.

So these prolly aren't illegal copies then cause I'm just not used to seeing silver ps1 discs.

I just ordered the Final Fantasy Anthology from amazon and when I opened the case the discs were silver instead of the usual PS1 black style discs.

From looking around online these are called "HKs" or "Hon Kong Silvers" and they're not legit copies.

I would love for someone to shed some light on this cause I noticed on the case that it says Square Enix instead of Square Soft. Is Square Enix reprinting these themselves hence why they say Square Enix or are these just really good bootlegs.

Yea after looking into what I bought more I realized I misunderstood what I bought. For some reason I thought that it would convert the signal AND upres. So now I just stopped using it to fix my picture problem.

I have an AV switcher right now for those 4 systems so I don't know if I'm going to dive into buying component cables and another switcher at the moment but that will be something I'll be doing in the future and I think I'll just stick with AV for the Dreamcast I'm not looking to spend crazy money on something that I don't play often.

Thank you for the knowledge and I wouldn't assume any of you know someone who might want to buy a AV to HDMI converter would you???????

So I currently have 4 of my systems running to an Av to HDMI converter to my flat screen TV thinking that the picture will get upscaled and potentially improved. So far from what I've noticed I haven't seen any improvement in the picture quality or audio quality and all the converter seems to do is shift the picture to the right so that the entire screen isn't being used. The 4 systems that I have running to this converter are my Dreamcast, PS2, original Xbox, and my Wii.

So far my thoughts are that the converter doesn't convert video that is outputted at 480, only lower. So my thinking would be that the converter would work with a system like a Genesis or SNES since the video quality is lower than 480.

So my question is did I basically waste my money on a converter that does nothing for the systems that I own or is there something I am missing here. I would love an in depth explanation on the subject.
