I think game pass is going to be a net negative on game value long term - very simliar to the mobile phone market, anything that doesn't push constant engagement and spend will be considered throwaway and valueless. I really think it will be considered a mistake long term, while microsoft was desperate to salvage their image from the xbox one generation by giving everything away for "Free" (or the perception of free).
Yeah I do feel like sometimes you have to take GB opinions as totally off the cuff, what their attitude is at that moment though. Since they were looking at a lot of steam trash they may have just been in the wrong mindset?
Its a double edged sword when you get GB. They are going to give it to you RAW and sometimes that RAWness results in opinions skewed by things totally unrelated to the game.
Whereas some other place might research the game and realize it's a long awaited indie darling and be a little softer on it, this is not that.
