Professor Layton excels in all aspects and exceeds expectations 0

Professor Layton is simply amazing. It takes the puzzle genre, perfects it, and then adds on extra features to create an all-around package worthy of everyone's attention. This is a game that excels in all aspects and exceeds all expectations. Professor Layton is an absolutely fantastic game, and one that should be experienced by almost every DS owner. The game follows the story of the esteemed gentlemen Professor Layton and his young assistant Luke. It opens with the first of many beautiful cu...

Surf's Up is pretty good, for a movie game 0

Let's face it - as a general rule, movie-based games generally suck. Without enough development time or resources, it is nigh impossible for even the most talented studio to adapt a movie to a game effectively. And for the most part, Ubisoft's Surf's Up is no exception. However, it has to be said that the developer made a few smart decisions, and Surf's Up is not nearly as bad as it could have been. In fact, it's quite good… for a movie game. Probably the best decision that Ubisoft made was onl...

Fable II delivers an immersive and fun experience 0

Peter Molyneux's reputation often precedes him, and rightly so. Molyneux is notorious for promising the world and not delivering. It happened with Fable, and many thought that it would happen with Fable II as well.Fortunately, it hasn't. That's not to say that the game is perfect; far from it. But the game has an undeniable charm. It's witty, wonderful, and a blast to play. The NPCs are amazingly dumb, but they do their job and make you laugh. Your dog is often useless, but he's the best compani...

Any self-respecting devloper would be ashamed of this atrocity 0

When Yaris was first released, the majority of the Xbox LIVE population downloaded it, because heck, it's free! Being the uninformed sap that I am, I wasn't made aware of this XBLA game until I saw the little black "Y" on the gamercards in people's signatures. I immediately booted up my Xbox and downloaded Yaris, the free Xbox LIVE arcade game by Backbone. I almost wish I hadn't. The only reason I say "almost" is because Yaris gave me two things. One, a chance to bask in its complete and utter ...

Pokemon is an underrated series that is starting to show its age 0

I was introduced to the gaming world with Nintendo's Pokemon Yellow way back on the GameBoy Colour. Needless to say, the series has always held a special place in my heart. Each generation has found me owning one or even two of the games. However, the formula has changed very little since its debut 10 years ago, and it might be starting to wear thin. For the select few who are unfamiliar with this classic series, you should know that Pokemon is a role-playing game. While moving a character, mal...

Mass Effect is a fantastic RPG that has some technical flaws 0

BioWare is famous for its sci-fi RPGs. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is arguably the best one to date. Their latest effort, Mass Effect, is no slouch either, but some unnacceptable technical issues hold it back from true greatness. Mass Effect's plot isn't exactly revolutionary: the galaxy is in trouble, and it is up to you to beat the odds and save it. However, there are some twists. Humanity is a mere fledgling in inter-galactic politics, so when you are tasked with saving the galaxy...
