Trophy Hunting

So, as I jump back into the gaming world headfirst with the PS3, I thought I would start categorizing my "what I am playing" sort of posts by the Achievements (Trophies) I am working on or earning.

But before we get started, a sort of shout out.  Video Game King has been on some sort of blogging quest to beat 1,000 games, and he recently finished.  Along the way he posted rambling, poorly written blog posts that were filled with internal references about the experience.  What makes his journey so amazing is the games he played.  Apparently an emulator fan, he plays games from across all ages and genres.

This has actually made him something of an authority on gaming, and to hear him talk about the development of games over time is really great, when he actually decides to put a few coherent sentences together.  But more importantly, he recently did a post with the stats and graphs from his 1,000 games beaten quest, and it is amazing.  The data is very, very raw, but says so much about the history and development of games.  Check it out here

The Stats

In other news I am currently trophy level 4, with 66 total trophies, including 3 gold, 10 silver, and 53 bronze.  Please note that this may or may not be accurate, as you can add "trophy support" to the list of things broken in LBP2.  Seriously, just about everything in that game is a broken, buggy mess.

And what a shame it is.  The game is great, when it works.  Playing with other people is so much fun.  Too bad it takes 45 minutes to get the game to load both players into a level.  Then again, sometimes it takes 45 minutes to just load an on-disc, single player level.  Yep.  But the co-op is great, and the game retains its sickeningly cute level of charm.

Otherwise, I have 63% of the BlackOps Trophies.  I probably won't Platinum this game, solely because I am not playing through the entirety of Zombie mode several times.  Zombie mode is not fun for me, plus I don't have people to play it with, and on top of all this, I am not doing multiple FAQ runs to get the random achievements, which require the use of the random weapon machine anyways.

I'm up to 44% of Katamari Forever.  This game just has a ton of content, and takes a long time to earn some of the trophies.  A few gold ones require at least 4 playthroughs of every level.  This is another one I may never get Platinum for as it requires some dedication to the local 2 player, which I may never get a chance to do.  Great game though, and I will get back to it once LBP2 isn't shiny and new anymore.

Finally, I have 33% in Risk:Factions.  I used to play highly competitive Risk, and the issues with the online multiplayer in Factions make it tough for a serious Risk fan to enjoy.  This game is clearly aimed at the casual Risk fan, and in a way that is near perfection.  If you are serious about your Risk, however, you might want to stay away.

Working On...

In the near future, I plan on playing more LBP2.  I have earned tons of trophies, but since the game isn't updating them to the network yet, who knows when I will report on it!
