Weekend rant

So my shrink keeps telling me I expect too much from the people around me.
He's not wrong.
Today's a prime example.

I'm on a tight budget, I make savings where I can and I eat pretty basic most days of the week just so I can pay my bills and enjoy my hobby (videogames/reading).
With that mindset I bought some special yoghurt drink thingies today, they were pretty cheap and I like those in the morning, all good right?
No.
Because when I come home, tell my housemates "yo, drinks? Mine. Don't touch." and they both agree.
Yet, not half a day later, one of the drinks disappears!

Thus I play my own version of L.A. Noire and try to deduct the solution to the missing drink dillema!
I confront the first housemate, she denies involvement yet I can tell she's nervous, I know her tell.
She tells me she took two sips in the end, I scowl at her but I forgive her, she's blonde after all.
So its off to confront the second housemate, this would not be his first crime towards my food products but he's been on the right path for a while now.

Turns out, he strayed from it.
He took my drink, knowing it was mine and it was not to be touched, and drank it all.
He confessed it with a grin, saying its not a big deal, that I need to act like a grown woman and that there's still 2 of the drinks left in the fridge.
I kick his chair down and refrain from spitting in his face.
"Learn to ask, next time." I say as I leave him, voices in my head urging me to turn around and release my own little piece of The Darkness but I control the impulse.

I know, I'm an angry person, but right now I don't care.
I've been failed dozens of times by humanity, by teachers, by cops and by friends.
People that should have been there for me, people that are depended on for guidance or protection.
It might be a small thing but for me it only reinforces the negativity.

People can't even listen to basic things like 'don't touch' so why the hell would I trust them with bigger issues than a fucking drink in the fridge?

Sure, there's a lot wrong with this logic but since its weekend my shrink has no chance to tell me that so I get free reign here! Woo!

Wait, how does blondness factor into forgiveness? The only connection I can draw is the "blondes are dumb" stereotype, but such a connection is tenuous, at best. (I'd have quoted the passage in question, but blogs don't have that function outside the forums.)

Other than that, not entirely sure how this is expecting too much. He's a dick. Kicking the chair might be a bit much, but still, he's a dick.

I get pissed when people drink the drinks I have in the fridge as well. If they do it again, I would suggest charging them for the drink. You bought the drink, so why do they get to drink it? Charge them. This, of course, is unless you owe them money. In which case, subtract it from your debt.

Either way, you win.

Wow, that was pretty a dark post for someone poaching your drink. I'm guessing that wasn't their only crime or the only thing that's happened to you.

This part

I've been failed dozens of times by humanity, by teachers, by cops and by friends.

breaks my heart. I really hope things get better for you, you seem like a nice person to me.

I admit I used to eat other people's food, but like most mature people I learned and became more considerate. I think you have every right to be upset about this. I don't care what your shrink says. Your roommates are adults and should act like it.

Kicking his chair probably wasn't the best way to handle it though in my opinion. Funny, but probably not productive.Your shrink might be right about that part.

Every successful relationship requires give and take and good communication.

When I live with people I try to be considerate of their habits/desires and hope they do so the same for me. I don't always succeed but it makes a difference I think, when you make an honest effort and are honest when you don't succeed. I'm usually pretty quick to forgive somebody if they ask for it. So yeah I'd be really pissed too in your shoes!

And that's where your roommates were being really not cool. This isn't the first time, they did it anyway, they knew what they did and then they tried to hide it. And furthermore did not offer to make it right (and on top of that blame you). That is bulllllshit.

I actually think the couple sips was worse than dude taking the whole drink.

A) that's kinda gross if she drank straight from the cup

B) she knows you'll be drinking after her and if she has cold or whatever you could get it

Either way that's not cool that you had to go LA Noire to find out from both of them.

Sounds like these roommates of yours suck if they do stuff like this all the time. Maybe it's time to look at moving into a better situation. I've had friends move for lesser reasons. Most are glad they did.

Screw that, let him know that he's the one who needs to act like a grown man. Refrigerator-thief housemates can be an annoyance under any circumstance but its just downright disrespectful for him to do that immediately after you'd specifically reminded him not drink them (a simple request!!)... I'm sure from his point of view you are overreacting to a trivial situation - but the reality is that those special yoghurt thingies were bought by you for you to enjoy in the morning (a more aware housemate would already know that those are yours... and a respectful housemate would ask first if he was unsure)... The fact that it ended with him  admitting to taking it in-spite of your simple request would force me to end the cutscene short by triggering a Renegade act of kicking his chair over (darkness powers may or may not be involved)
Theres nothing wrong with making a scene if thats what it takes to make you point... you tried to warn them.

@Video_Game_King: At times she really is the dumb blonde :P

@Godlyawesomeguy: Aye, if he would have asked me he would have fucking gotten it from me. No charge.
But hey.

@Aetheldod: Rawr!

@Slag: They're great people, really, since they put up with me.
I really don't mind the sips, she wouldn't do it if she were sick or anything.
Other one's a mess though, he's been getting very balsy lately.
Besides, anyone who puts up that kind of attitude when they have stolen anything deserve nothing less.
Fucking moron is supposed to be by best friend, bah.

@ComradeKhan: Yeah, my point.
If its so trivial and simple why can't they act like it?
If they asked I'd given them both one, because that's how nice I am, but nooooo why be normal and sane!
Lets just steal one!
I dunno, people really disappoint me in that.

@TaliciaDragonsong:

Since he's your best friend, well that really sucks. No wonder you're upset! That makes it a higher level of disrespect.
