@hardtarget: Thank you for posting this! I was wondering what everyone was getting all up in arms over. I've been playing it on PC and haven't had any problems outside of one crash to desktop. Otherwise, everything is maxed out and it runs fine for me.

@cloudyimpulse: I was just going to say that I didn't think that Soul Calibur V had a pay wall. Then I did a search and found out about Lost Souls...huh...

@cloudymusic: Its $20, the campaign is supposed to be 8 missions long, but only 5 are out so far. Still though, I do like the storyline so far. Its a neat melding of the worlds of 1-6 and Assault Horizon.

Its not bad. Control seems to be a combination of 6 and Assault Horizon (without the Dog fighting mechanic). Seems to be running off a modified version of the Assault Horizon engine. Main issues that I have so far are the units of fuel that you use to do the online missions (and single player campaign I think, I shelled out the $20 for the unlimited campaign). You have supplied fuel and stocked fuel. Stocked fuel is what you buy, are awarded through completing challenges, and dropped at the end of missions (sometimes). Supplied fuel is limited to 3 units which recharges at the end of a 3 hour cooldown (I think). So far I haven't had an issue with "purchasing" fuel. I have gotten enough through the challenges to not have to worry about it.

I really think they have to put this on the PS4 eventually if they want to keep this thing going. It was a bit of a mistake to launch this at the end of a console cycle, if they want to do anything meaningful with it in the future. They are saying that how well this does will impact the next major Ace Combat series, so I'm getting the feeling that this is just a practice run to flesh out features, kinda feels like a Gran Turismo 4 Prologue in a sense. I'm having fun with it so far, bout would like to see at least double the number of levels for both campaign and co-op. Its way damn short (7 campaign with an 8th coming, and only 5 co-op with 2 "secret" sorties). I do really like how the co-op missions start with an overall goal, then an "emergency mission" kicks in about halfway through. These emergency missions seem to be about 4 different scenarios that you have to complete within a time limit (like taking down a Scinfaxi submarine, to an elite flight of enemy aces). So far, there is no deathmatch type gameplay. Two rival flights made up of the people who join the game compete to get the highest score in a mission.

Well everyone, time to put a cap on this.

I see that the Bombinos got my care package of t-shirts and shot-glasses, hope they liked them. Also, the big box-o-games showed up here! Over a hundred 360/PS3/Wii games! I've already got people coming around my desk sneaking peeks at the goods. I'll label them all and put them up in the B3 lounge (the gaming lounge I posted pics of). Looks like the winter overs won't get bored, hopefully. I guess now we just have to worry about fist fights over people hogging the gaming systems.

Again, thanks to everyone who contributed to this donation drive. I really appreciate it and I'm sure future gamers who come down here will too. You guys rock!

P.S. I did shoot a short 2 minute unboxing video when the box showed up. I'll email it to Drew as soon as I get back to a better internet connection in about 2 weeks or so.

@gozertc: Yeah we have SPTR in the middle of the day, but the majority of the bandwidth gets taken up by the science weenies sending their data back to their motherships. We usually get pretty decent coverage through the night from a defunct GOES sat and SKYNET (yes, you all read that right).

Oddly enough, my most played game (outside of Star Trek Online), is probably Naval Ops: Warship Gunner and Warship Gunner 2 on the PS2. I've put over 600 hours into those games. Love it to death, although I haven't played them lately.

@kishinfoulux: I wasn't a huge fan of the controls, but I really did like the world that they had built and wanted to see more. I thought the design aesthetic was really interesting.
