10 games that won't fail in 2011, and why.

I only own a PC and a 360 so I will not considder any PS3 or Wii games.

List items

  • If you're like me, you have been soaking up every drop of information about this game. Seeing how good Bethesda has become in making these kind of games, with for example the Fallout series and the previous Elder Scrolls game, they must be sitting on some kind of magic formula. The only problem i foresee is will there ever be enough quests for the player to do. With 3 digit (and some even 4!) game time spent in this universe, I doubt it.

  • There are far too many reasons for this being one of the most certain games of 2011 that will not fail. First of all the outcome of the games' story has so many factors, that it is impossible to predict what will happen. I mean, for some, (Spoiler!) Shepard already died in the end of the second game(and he died twice in that game!!). Imagine playing through the last game when the main protaginist has already died! It's just CRAZY!

  • It's the same formula as before. The portals don't work any different. Speedy thing goes in, speedy thing comes out. The sheer physics of the game is enough to get me excited. It's one of those few games where the story isn't told to you. You don't stop for a cutscene, or stop to hear any explenations. You unravel the mysteries yourself by natural progression. Now this is art.

Also: the return of the companion cube!<3

  • The character creation, skill tree and levelling system is enough to get me excited about this sequal. Just the depth of history and details you will find in this universe is amazing. BioWare seem to be laying alot of effort into backstories of their games, and this one may be among the best.

  • Even though this is a new IP I think it's one of the safe bets for 2011. Seeing Rockstars trackreckord with open world games, with real world settings, LA Noire is going mark the start of another successful franchise for the talented developers. The trailers so far give the impression of an intersting story with well developed characters, another Rockstar trademark.

  • If you think back to Asylum, you will probably remember that first of all, it was an awesome game, but also that it was a little confined. That is not a "negative" as it gives the game better structure and feeling of progression. Rocksteady was very smart about it. But this time picture yourself(or Batman) being able to use all the types of gadgets to go about freely in an entire city, scale buildings, jumping between rooftops, acting as the bat in the dark. Hopefully Rocksteady has picked up some inspiration from the open-world gamestyle of for example Assassin's Creed. Seeing how Rocksteady's last Batman game was crowned GOTY I think they have it pretty much down how to make a good game at this point.

  • Just the fact that they will be adding dedicated servers is going to solve all kinds of problems. The host advantage will be gone, latancy will be better, and I figure the kids will stop crying about the beforementioned problems when being executed in the crudest way thought possible.

Also Anya is playable, Marcus' dad will supposedly show up, and then there's the Coletrain.

  • The creator of Rez is giving out a new game(!!!). Although this may seem as a wildcard, this being ment for the kinect and all, by the looks of the trailers that has come out, I think this game is going to be one of the stand-out games of 2011.

  • They got the formula down with the last forza, which was awesome. With even better graphics and small detail improvements to the single player layout, I am confident this game will once again give an authentic while still totally fun experience. Hopefully there will be added weathereffects and some other track types.

  • If released this year. The only questionmark I have is to what timeperiod it will be set. Modern times seems as the sure bet(and imo the best), but there could be this alianating "10 years into the future"-thing where every weapon has some kind of laser upgrades. Nah..doubt it. EA knows what people want out of Battlefield.
