I struggle to think of another game that I respect so much, yet have absolutely no desire to play. Game looks amazing - not interested.
Clearly RDR2 is a real labour of love, and I'm sure it will be hugely successful and provide massive bonuses to its staff. I just hope R* learnt some important lessons along the way. If the undoubted runaway success of this causes them to double down on their management style, it will be a rather sad outcome.
Woah I honestly never would've guessed her to be quite so passionate about games. She's gone from being "That Lady In The Bad Star Wars Game" to someone I could listen to talk about games for hours.
+1 Game looks great, but fuck microtransactions - especially random lootboxes - in full priced games.
I absolutely loved the first game. I bought it day one and I've played through it three times so far at this point. It has fun combat and a very addictive power progression system. I also loved interacting with the Nemesis system and could quite happily spend hours with it creating and destroying armies.
It's probably very likely that in playing this, I wouldn't feel the need to interact with the microtransactions at all. War appears to have the end-game I always wanted: nigh endless army tinkering that actually has a long term goal, rather than just doing it for the sake of it. The addition of online fortress raiding also seems like a really fun time sink.
With that said, I will not buy this game until there's a deep-ass sale on a GOTY edition, as I'm not prepared to send a message to WB that I'm OK with their attempts to penny pinch players that have already paid a significant entry price, regardless of how harmless it may or may not be to me personally as a player. This isn't just about me. It's harmful to the industry as a whole, and presents an incredibly slippery slope in eroding consumer confidence.
I'm super sad about that to be honest, but it is what it is. Fuck this shit, frankly.
Ah such a shame! MvC2 was my jam back in the Dreamcast days and it's super disappointing to see such a comparatively lacking character roster - and no X-men, what in the actual heck?! At the rate they're going, they'll only have a handful of characters in the next game.
This game was always likely to be 'buy during a sale' game for me at best, but I don't think I can justify supporting something that seems so much of a shadow of it's former self. even discounted. Boo! :(
