OK! Interesting figures. Spending up to $60/month or $400/year aint that bad. I could live with that. However I do often feel that given the amount of games that are being released and the high prices of consoles, I should buy a lot of games. Otherwise I'm thinking: "Why did I ever buy this console if I dont buy more games?". I live in Sweden, so game prices here are quite high as well.

Hi,

I've always been curious about how much money you spend on games and downloadable content per month? Not hardware like controllers or graphic cards. I love games but they are crazy expensive. The last consoles I bought were PS3 and PS Vita. But I hardly spent any money on games because of the prices, so I ended up giving away the consoles to family members. I always felt bad when I bought games because the money could be spent on more important things. But that's for another thread.

That's not a fault of the power behind them, but developers not understanding how best to use that power, which should be the "quick style play" thing you mentioned.

I agree! But what kind of games do you think would fit to play "on the go"? I mentioned Lumines, but then I wondered why I need an advanced and expensive handheld like PSV. I could just play simple games on my smarthphone or DS (or even GBA).

Because I've always wanted a home console but on the go, which is what the Vita essentially is and I like that a lot. I don't need the games to be made especially for the handheld medium.

Out of curiosity, do you commute everyday during rush hour? Are you able to play these "advanced" games on the go? I assume yes.

This is a topic I've been thinking alot about since PSP was released; And that is "what is the purpose of powerful handhelds?" and why people by them.

When I say powerful handhelds I mean PSP and PS Vita (PSV). Just for the record, I own both these handhelds as well as the Nintendo counterparts.

The point of handhelds is that you can play them when you communte, lie on the bed or anywhere you don't have/need a TV. Or because you want a different kind of gaming experience that you cant get from a regular console. Those are all valid reasons.

But for poweful handhelds, which are capable of running graphic intense games, do people really use these systems "on the go" to play these advanced games like Uncharted (PSV), MGS/GTA (PSP) etc. Some people do, but how many are actually doing it on a regular basis that would justify you spending so much money on these expensive handhelds. I would assume that most people commute during rush hour on their way to work/school and in my experience these "advanced" games (which I mentioned earlier) aren't really suitable to play when you commute during rush hour. There are to much people and crazines around you. You could play these games at home in a more quiet environment, but then why would you play Uncharted on PSV when you can play a better version on PS3?

Then there are simple (and great) games like Lumines which I would assume would fit better to play "on the go" than a game like Uncharted or MGS. But then my question is: Why do I need to buy an advanced and expensive system like PSP/PSV to play a simple game like Lumines?

I bought a PSP because it looked cool and was something different from the nintendo handhelds. Why I bought a PSV I don't know. Maybe because of the WOW factor but I knew I would only play it for 2-3 weeks and then never touch it again and that is the case today for my PSV. I havent touched it since March except for trying demos and free games.

I started this topic because I would like to know why people buy PSP/PSV and how they use it. Im not here to argue against anyone or to hate on PSP/PSV. Im just curious about your views.

Thanks!

Minecraft is similar to the Sims in the way that there aren't any goals that you "must" accomplish.

Does the iOS/Android version require internet connection? Since I do not have the 3G version of the Vita, I wouldn't be able to play it unless I have access to WiFi.
