So Dark Souls didn't fit best debut but PUBG does.

The awards are meaningless as they are wholly arbitrary to how people feel about a game at any given time.

@redhotchilimist:I am willing to bet when Brad found the colour of Horizon muted it was just at a time in the game when the weather was overcast or foggy.

They never touched on any of the actual graphical and design of Horizon. The dynamic weather and time of day effects really affecting the lighting in the game in a much more real way than any other game does. Night and day felt very different. Most games day cycle is just about reducing the lighting but in Horizon it actually changed and you had sunset and sunrise that only lasted a few seconds but produced very different lighting effects to the rest of the cycle. Then there are the different areas themselves like the grassy, forest areas with ruined cities to the desert, the jungle the mountains and snow. All feeling very different and the areas between giving a good sense of progression from going from one area to another. Getting to Meridian and the very different style and climate of the area really makes you feel you have traversed a world as it felt very foreign to the Nora homeland. They really did create different populations that felt very different culturally with their different fashion, architecture that blended into the area they live in.

I would say it was the best looking game but somewhat because what I think makes Cuphead's look is style and better fits that category. The line on best style and best look is not clear at all and getting worse.

Then you have Destiny 2 where somehow people found purple goo as a good argument for best looking game.

How is being a heel meant to work in this format? I don't see how wanting him to lose the game works when you want Abby and Alex to win.

The patch argument makes me think how console games existed before they could be patched or how they weren't a complete mess. They make it sound like they couldn't have.

@zombaholic:Many of the skins are clearly not meant to be taken as cannon, if any(except origins) and are not meant to be any real representation of the characters. So yes it is weird if you think they are meant to represent the characters but they don't. Reaper never actually went around shooting people as a Mariachi band member.

There is nothing wrong with someone drawing inspiration from a culture and presenting it in such a way that they like. People do this all of the time, this is how a multi cultural society like the US works.

Getting mad about this is like an Italian getting mad at Americans for not doing Pizzas right.

Sounds like maybe Scott Manley did something with the west crew that will be up later, he lives around there after all. Maybe show them/us how it is done without spoiling this whole series showing the beast crew how exactly to do it. That little 'break' was probably meant to be edited out.

Not sure how announcing the Oculus like a console would help them. The 599 PS3 announcement didn't go down well either.

This analysis could pretty much translate straight over to 'A New Hope'. Which is ironic when some people feel it is largely a re-imagining of that original movie. Some of the differences are interesting especially based off this sort of analysis of the movie.

The 20th century fascist analog in episode IV had a very old face or older in the likes of Tarkin, the Emperor, Vader when you saw it and also all other major Empire figures you saw throughout the movies like Veers and Piett. The Rebel Alliance to restore the republic was the youth overthrowing the obvious fascist analog. In VII the fascist analog and resistance have roles reversed somewhat as the First Order is full of very youthful looking people in Hux and Ren, even Finn was originally part of them. The resistance is now what is viewed more as the older generation with Leia, Han, Chewbacca even the likes of R2-D2 and C-3PO which related back to the old generation and some of the new high ranking faces you first meet on the resistance base are old.

It is almost as if you had a generation that fought against fascism and created the Republic only for a new generation to come along, millennials you call them, just to destroy it all even if that involves killing their parents in the process. With the exception of a few that rejected the idea of the youth to fight with the past generation fighting for what the new generation want to destroy.

Of course I don't believe any of this nonsense, you can pull anything out of subjective meaning but it is more interesting to view things as someone else may believe it rather than just making everything conform with your own as it is important to challenge your own beliefs rather than try to reinforce them in everything you see.

@napstar: He was that passionate about Book of Unwritten Tales 2, he just didn't bother to make the case for it to be on the sites top ten for one reason or another. Same was actually true for Kerbal, no argument or case was ever made for the game to be there. It seemed to be more the case that the arguments for the game, not just by Vinny, in other categories made everyone think it should be on the list by default. Vinny was the most surprised out of everyone that it made it on and was number 4. When he was sort of hinting it didn't really deserve to be there, not on a personal level as it was his 2nd game of the year but for the site list many others stepped in and said it should. Brad even said he would fight for it over other games. Vinny for better or worse is a team player.

They also did address Invisible inc before all other games were cut and those other games made much more sense on the final list but also a game being cut doesn't mean it couldn't be brought back.
