GOTY 2012

List items

  • The PC version. This one I got deep into and really enjoyed my time. Cannot wait for the sequel.

  • Haven't finished it as I was afraid to end it. Sure, I saved constantly and never lost a soldier ranked higher than a squaddie... but damn is it fun.

  • I forget when I played this (writing December 2013) but this is definitely worth a nod up here.

  • Only just days ago started this stand-alone expansion and man was that a mistake. Bringing even more old-meets-new technology in mid-1800s Japan you bring the technology of the Old American West/Civil War into the turbulent times of post-Feudal, pre-Imperial Japan.

  • This is like one of those crazy puzzle games that gets your brain into overdrive. Like getting really into a game of Lumines, Meteos, Rock Band Blitz, or whatever. That's the kind of speed and brutal violence that is required to pass nearly any level in this game. That, and the music is awesome.

  • Over the Christmas break I booted this game again for the first time since the week of release and have been delving into the more subtle intricacies of the game. No, in the 7 hours of so I've played I haven't used anything other than the starting ship, haven't experimented with teleporters or drones... but even so it's still amazing.

  • The gunplay and violence witnessed in this game are just amazing, the trademark of a Max Payne game. The cutscenes are a little overboard and the load times just break your desire to replay more entertaining levels, but overall the whole experience is something wild.

  • Turns out hockey games are pretty fuckin' sweet. I stick mostly to exhibition matches between myself and the AI, and sometimes between myself and my dad or brother or sister. In any case it's still a rush to get a goal just under the glove of the goalie.

  • I haven't gotten too far into this game as I've been suffering for Elders Scrolls-itis where you just find the first shiny thing and forget about the main story. It's no GTA but it keeps a level of mystical bad-ass-ness and flair without going into the bullshit cartoon valley of Saints Row. A good balance.

  • BIG BO

  • Binary Domain isn't better than Halo 4. Let me just put that there first... I've only barely touched it, but god damn does it feel good getting back to basics. Gone are the familiarity and by-the-books feeling of Halo 2 and 3. This feels more like Halo 1 in every good way.

  • Okay, games I need to play that I own:

----> Mark of the Ninja, The Walking Dead

    ----

    Games I can borrow:

----> Dishonored, Assassin's Creed III, Far Cry 3

    ----

Games I should look into from 2012:

----> Mass Effect 3, Journey, Forza Horizon, NFS Most Wanted, CODBLOPS II, Hitman Absolution, Lumines Vita, Gravity Rush, SSX, Scribblenauts Unlimited
