and that's about it because I don't remember seeing a whole lot of actual game footage coming out of this thing. I'm sure if DOOM Eternal is more DOOM 2016 I'm here for it but there's no way to know yet.

No one directly told me this one. Just kind of people talking highly of it on the net.

For me it was, Golden Sun. JRPG's just aren't my genre so when I get the sense that "oh, this is just another one of those" it repulses me pretty hard. I got about 6 hours in and decided I'm good to leave it forever.

Probably doesn't help that I played all the way through that terrible DS game. I couldn't tell you a single thing about that story either.

Why don't they stick to the 'super' adjective? "Super 3DS" sounds like something a parent would buy for their kid immediately.

"My kid has to have the 'super' version!" or something like that. Bravo, Nintendo, for missing that opportunity. Are you even trying anymore?

"Super" would do a whole lot more to differentiate it than "new". "New" is just as time sensitive as it feels. It's not a good label to put in the name of your product.

About the whole "shame list" theory. I've got 130 games listed in my steam list. I just went over it and didn't find a single thing I wasn't interested in playing to the end.

I have my list organized into a queue. I have every intention of eventually playing all of these.

The real advice here is don't buy a game just because it's cheap. Buy it because you're interested in it (quick looks and similar content are guilty of exposing me to a lot of games that I would have otherwise never looked into and I thank them for that.). I bought several of these while they were on sale but that doesn't mean I ever picked up something I didn't want just because there was a low number on it.

Which is why I just can't agree with this guys thinking at all. The one thing I think does have some ground is the idea that the more you invest into something the more time you're likely to spend with it I've gotten trapped into certain sinkholes by that logic.

Tough for me to say. I mean, in all honesty. I think Spelunky is a better time, aka, more fun.

Brothers is important in a design sort of way. It's relatively simplistic though. It's the sort of "if you play it once there's no real reason to play it again aside from wanting to see the story again". I think the story of brothers is the dividing point. It didn't really grab me at all. Others it did very much so.

I guess it comes down to whether you want something more game-y or more artistic. (though, having been able to buy only one. In retrospect, I would have rather gotten Spelunky.)

All of the people begging for dual sticks really need to recognize that 3DS games still have to work with every version of the 3DS. Programming a game that plays optimally with dual sticks might be well and good for people who get that specific version but it'll play like shit for everyone else. It's exclusionary and would be a really dumb move business wise. Dual sticks just isn't going to happen until the next handheld comes out if it's going to happen at all.

I still can't, or rather, don't want to believe it.

However, what I want to take away from this is that he was always a big inspiration to me, and he always will be. He may be gone, but never forgotten.

  • Okami
  • Bastion
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • Persona 4
  • Ghost Trick
  • Portal 2

Okami is the personal favorite of the bunch but they're all absolutely amazing in their own right. I haven't finished Rayman Origins yet but it might just end up be one of my favorite platformers of all time.
