Games Played 2011
This is a record of the games I've played in 2011.
Games I've completed are marked [COMPLETED] along with the date of completion. Pretty clever.

[COMPLETED] 14 June 2011.
I found this engaging to begin with, but after the first 6 or 7 hours it became a bit of a slog to be honest. It did pick up towards the end though thankfully. I'm in two minds about the ending - it certainly didn't end of a high though.
Picked this up a few weeks ago. I've only put in around 30 minutes so far. Looks good though.
I'm currently towards the end of the 2nd chapter in this game. In the White House. Need to finish this sometime. Military shooters = yawn (for the most part). I find the gameplay too frantic and none-stop. Need some downtime between fire fights. Maybe I'm just getting old.
I have zero interest in the multi-player.
I must played about 2 hours of this total. I really wanted to like this game - I've probably enjoyed it the most out of fighting games I've played in recent years. Street Fighter 4 and Soul Calibre 4. Fighting games just aren't for me. I thought the single player campaign mode was pretty cool though. Ebayed.
Played a good 5 or 6 hours of the beta. It is an excellent RTS - though what I played was very easy - no real challenge. I quite like the hub system and I love the graphical style. I thought this was going to hold my interest long term - but somehow I tired of it pretty quick.
I play this off and on. Last time I played it was get nice and familiar with the Belgian Spa circuit - where I'm off to watch the real thing in August. Woot!
I picked this up for £12 in the supermarket. I enjoyed the combat for quite a while. I never reached the point where people say it opens up though. I got about 15 hours in before it lost my interest.
I got this plus the DLC episodes during the Christmas Steam deal. I've played a hour or two of the motorcycle episode (don't remember the name). I mean to come back to this....one day. Maybe when GTA V gets announced that will bring my interest back.
I picked this up really cheap during the Steam Christmas sale. £3.49 or something like that. I've played a few hours and it's good - but there were quite a few other games I picked up at the time and this one I didn't follow through. Mean to pick it up again though sometime.
This was a blast for a couple of hours. Another game picked up cheap on Steam. Simple unsophisticated fun.
I levelled my main up to 85 over the Christmas break. I then rolled a rogue to around lvl35. I've played WoW on and off since 2005. I think maybe I have dropped it for good now. Haven't played since April. We'll see.
-update July 4 2011 - re-subbed and rolled a goblin! currently lvl13.
Played on PC. Pretty average shooter tbh. I'n about 7 hours in I'd say. I mean to go back but it's hardly compelling.
I've only really played the single player and haven't quite finished that. Another one for the 'mean to finish' pile.
Really enjoyed this racer. More than the critics did I feel. I think this game appeals more to a European audience more than American purely because of the racing classes. I've got pretty far - up to the full on FIA GT races. This is the game I will be playing for some time to come whenever I get that racing itch.
I played a few hours of this in May after completing Portal 2, just for some Valve nostalgia. It's showing it's age pretty badly now. I loved it back in the day though.
[COMPLETED] 27 April 2011. This is obviously a great game. Some of the puzzle made my brain physical hurt though, and I don't deny feeling like I just wanted to shoot something at times. Contender for best ending in a video game ever.
I played this solidly for about 2 weeks over Christmas and the new year. I really love the idea of Eve. The one, huge open world. The whole of space there to explore. It's an MMO, but a completely different experience to something like WoW. I really should give it another bash. The trouble with MMO's though, is if I'm going to play them, I have to do it at the exclusivity of all other games - and I just love other games too much!
[COMPLETED] 15 March 2011. I was hyped for this before it came out but was put off by the reviews. I finally picked it up in March when it was dirt cheap on Steam. Once I started I couldn't put this down. I loved it. I don't know what it got such a bad wrap. Sure all the driving got boring after a while, but I loved the story and the way it was so focused and linear. Plus I didn't care whether it was open-world or not. Just a cool story and fun gameplay.
[COMPLETED] 24 June 2011. I will enjoyed this relatively shallow hack 'n' slash while it lasted. I played as the melee warrior class with the 'fire girl' as my npc co-op buddy. I have an intention to play through it again as the ranged gun character if I ever find the time.
I finally went and picked up a copy of Minecraft. I played the beta version 1.7.0. This is a unique game. For a couple of days there I was hooked. It was fascinating to dig down to the lowest point in the map, discover and explore underground caves, and build a portal to the 'nether'. The game does lack objectives though. I look forward to further updates that promise to add npc villages and quests. The creative 'build' mode doesn't appeal to me though.
I picked this up from Steam for £4.99. Can't wait to get stuck in.
