1. The Walking Dead
I didn't expect too much from this game and it delivered more than I could ever have imagined. A powerful and gut-wrenching narrative told with great style and substance. Of course it's a game, it's my GAME of the YEAR!
2. Halo 4
More Halo and that's fine by me. The original was the first game I played at a Pre-Xbox 1 launch publicity event and that combat puzzle formula still works for me. The reason for it being 2nd is the lackluster narrative. Imagine the storytelling of TWD and the gameplay of H4. What a world that would be.
3. Far Cry 3
Immensely fun and enjoyable open world island. Interesting mechanics, looks beautiful and runs fine for me on PC. A very solid all around game.
4. WWE '13
Attitude Era. Say no more. This is the wrestling game I've been waiting for and it delivered just fine. Its not a classic by any means and of course it has its flaws. But it is still the only game this year that has HHH on HHH on HHH action.
5. Trials Evolution
FUCK THIS GAME. LOVE THIS GAME. I'm just astonished my controller survived this game.
6. FIFA Soccer 13
I always enjoy playing FIFA and this year is a very solid version of the game. I've put a lot of hours into it and when it clicks, it really flows like a real match.
7. Hotline Miami
Similar to Trials Evolution, this game had me on the rack at times. But I enjoyed my time with it none-the-less. Despite some pretty nasty bugs in there.
8. Football Manager 2013
I play it every year. It's never going to be game of the year, but for those who play it, we love it.
9. XCOM: Enemy Unknown
This is where I start to run out of games I played that were released in 2012. I played 4-5 hours of XCOM and enjoyed it. I will go back to it, it makes the list ahead of some games I completed in 2012.
10. Katawa Shoujo
Similar to XCOM. I've never played something like this before and I felt it deserved a mention for not scaring me away with it's weirdness. I might go back to it, I might not. It was interesting to play what I did.
